# Mapper's Strike Against Wallening
# Why to Strike
Mappers have been disrespected for years on TG. Look at the Birdshot removal attempt by Oranges as a recent example. Today the camel's back was broken; the Wallening team's disregard and taking for granted of the mapping team is unacceptable.
1. The wallening is not compatible with the current version of StrongDMM.
1a. The editor cannot cirrently display the walls as they'd appear on the game
1b. Furthermore the pixel shift of many mobs and structures also do not appear on the editor.
These changes make mapping much much harder as we no longer have an accurate view of what the room would look like in the editor, making decoration and interior design unviable.
2. Almost all of the maps and rooms on the game will need fixing
2a. All of the rooms that have wallmounts on the south side will need remapping to have most of them on the north wall
2b. This is unreasonable; there are so many wall mounts on the walls already that having them all on the north wall is impossible
2c. Many of the rooms are small, meaning even if we do use the side walls there's still no room.
3. The code was made before the merge. The sprites were made before the merge. However they want the mapping to be done after the merge.
3a. This means that, while we work, the stations will be actively broken with the mappers scrambling to fix it. They're pushing to main a PR that breaks all the maps and expecting us to fix it rather than having fixes in the PR itself.
3b. Furthermore, spriters wete compensated with 1000$ for their work while mappers are getting nothing, not even time.
3c. Expecting us to be on the catch-up and fix every single map while they're live is ridiculous. The wallening isn't being shipped with placeholder sprites or code so why is it shipping with unfinished and unfit maps?
3d. A lot of the code for wallening was ported to main before the actual wallening. Why didn't the maps receive the same treatment, moving wallstuff to north walls and removing south posters before it's merged rather than waiting to do it all post merge?
Mappers, this is unacceptable. They deprecated our tools, broke our maps and are asking us to fix it all ourselves, with a barely functioning StrongDMM and unusable maps live on the server.
I refuse to work under these conditions. I am calling a general mapper's strike - no mapping PRs are to be done, specially so ones that fix the maps for wallening - until our demands are met.
# What We Want
1. The fixing or replacement of our current tools so that we have a tool featuring both the new pixelshifting and properly rendering the walls
1a. This can be a new editor or a new version of StrongDMM
2. Fuse the intercom, bounty board, request console and newscaster all together into a single machine
3. Make the mapping changes onto the main Wallening branch, rather than PR'd post-wallening.
