# Pokémon Showcase In a Pokémon Showcase there is two players and a ref in a match. The players are both allies and enemies - cooperate, but always keep an eye out! ## Basics The Pokémon Showcase is a 1v1 battle. Once one of the pokémon faints, the battle is over - but you won't want to rush through the game. Instead, the players are given a list of objectives - the "plot points" - that they must achieve during the course of the game - for example, "A pokémon takes 45 damage on a single turn" or "A pokémon ends the turn with 6+ conditions" and both players gain points when these conditions are met! In addition to the public plot points, however, both players also have player-specific plot points. These are hidden from the other player - and achieving them grants points for only one player! ## Signup & Preparation When signing up for the game, each player chooses one of their pokémon, one item and gives the pokémon a **character**, all during signup. Signups then work like Contest. The pokemon's character is a description of the pokemon's role - "All-Out Attacker", "Defensive Wall", "Status Spreader", etc. These are used to generate the plot points! At the start of the battle 10 plot points are randomly picked. Each character has their own list of plot points; 3 plot points are taken from the list of the character of the first player and 3 are taken from the list of the second player's character. The 10th role is always "The battle must end on exactly turn 5". [Number subject to change during playtesting] Each player also gains 6 secret plot points. These are sent via a smogon direct message to the player via the judge, picked by the same pool of plot points as the regular plot points. Secret plot points are only revealed at the end of the game, not when they're scored. Players have no idea how many secret plot points the other player has achieved! ## Scoring Each player gains 1 point for each collective plot point they achieved. Both players profit off them! For each achieved individual plot point that player gains +1 point and the other player, -1 point! It's a zero sum game, and cooperating to get them all won't do anything. Fight for em! Players gain rewards based on their points: 1-5 points: [Small Reward] 6-10 points: [Medium Reward] 9-16 points: [Big reward] # Example Characters & Plot Points Brawler (High Damage): -> A mon deals over 20 damage in a single hit -> A mon deal over 35 damage in a single round -> A non-volatile status condition is created on round 1 -> The Brawler wins the battle Tank (Defensive): -> Have 3 or more field conditions on the field at once -> The Tank take no damage in a round -> Have 4 or more conditions on a mon at the same time -> The Tank loses the battle -> The Tank reaches round 4 with over half health The Trickster (Big Movepool): -> Neither pokémon does contact with eachother for 6 steps in a row. -> All 5 core stats got raised or lowered sometime during the battle. (Does not need to be at the same time) -> 3 or more conditions (including field conditions) were created during the same round
