Duolingo ## Evaluating Spotify - **Category:** Music - **Mobile:** Audio - ability to listen to music 'on the go'. - **Story:** - Allows users to stream music. - Allows users to share their favorite content and discover new artists. - **Market:** Anyone that listens to music could enjoy this app. Targeted towards teens/young adults, but provides value for everyone who likes music. - **Habit:** Provide new music every week, save music you like, create playlists, recommend songs. Average user listens to music and consumes app. - **Scope:** Spotify initially streams music for people and has people creating music on the app. It then expanded to curating playlists and recommending songs. ## Evaluating Tiktok - **Category:** Entertainment - **Mobile:** Website is view only, uses camera/video, mobile first experience. Uses endless scroll feature. - **Story:** Allows users to share their lives in videos/music and enhance their content with effects. - **Market:** Anyone that enjoys short videos could enjoy this app. Ability to follow and hashtag based on interests and categories allows users with unique interests to engage with relevant content. - **Habit:** Users can post throughout the day many times. Features like "lives" encourage more engagement as well. Users can explore endless videos in any category imaginable whenever they want. Very habit forming! - **Scope:** Tiktok started out extremely narrow focused, just posting lip syncing audio in videos. Features like "Streak", "XP" and badges encourage daily use. - **Scope:** Started with a small set of languages, grew to more languages available to learn.
