# Understanding Pipeline Statuses
Each stage in a pipeline is called a “status”. These statuses give us a visual overview of where a student is in our retention efforts so we can easily plan out our next steps. A supplementary flowchart and video will be provided to go over these steps.
### TA Outreach Needed
- This is where our tickets will be initially loaded into.
- This status indicates that the Teaching Assistant Assigned needs to reach out to the student.
- **Reminder: At Risk Reason is located in the ticket in the left section under At Risk Tickets (located under About This Ticket)**
### TA Outreached
- This status indicates that the student has been reached out to by their assigned TA, but has yet to respond.
### TA - Student Responsive
- This status indicates that the student has responded and/or is working with TAs to get back on track.
- Ideally, this is where a majority of our tickets will live as we help students get back on track. We can create reminder tasks here/check-in on the students to monitor their progress.
### SEM Outreach Needed
- This status indicates that an SEM needs to reach out to a student. In our case, this will be due to the student not responding for 48 hours.
- You will also move a student here if they request anything that requires SEM intervention (eg. retake, cancellation, any other program adjustments, AP-related questions)
### Resolved | Mitigated
- This status indicates that a student has caught up and is back on track.
### Unresolved | Efforts Exhausted
- This status indicates that all outreach efforts have been exhausted by TA and SEM.
- This status may be more thoroughly utilized by SEMs due to the handoff process, but there are some instances in which TAs may want to use it.

## Defining Less-Used Pipeline Statuses
### SEM Outreached
- TAs should never use this status.
- This status indicates that an SEM has reached out to the student.
### SEM - Student Responsive
- TAs should never use this status.
- This status indicates that an SEM has gotten a response from one of their outreaches. This will result in them either passing the student back into a TA status (if TA help is needed) or resolving the ticket via their own methods.
### Program Adjustment Requested
- You may use this status in very select circumstances, but this status will more often be used by SEMs.
- This status indicates a student chose to retake, drop, cancel or is up for academic dismissal, etc.
- The only time a TA would use this status is if we were doing research on a student and found that they already re-took from when they were loaded in, meaning the SEM already handled what was needed there and processed everything. With this more up-to-date system, this should almost never happen and is always worth pinging the SEM via a note to confirm before moving.
