## Updates (DAOhaus Universe)
- Isaac and Owen (Season 1) working on the NFT project which was recently presented to Rarible
- More details about this in the next section
- [[10:14]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h10m14s) Exploration around a token launcher project — there are several Legos that are being composed together around products and features for DAOs
- DAO Legos "changing the world one feature at a time"
## Raid Guild Season One Cohort
- [Isaac and Owen]
- During Season One, Isaac and Owen and conducted lots of user research: [https://hackmd.io/@daohaus/ry2tfIIqO](https://hackmd.io/@daohaus/ry2tfIIqO)
- Great feedback on what has been proven for DAOs to do
- [[10:55]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h10m55s) Built first adapter for DAOs to sign data as a DAO
- Will be writing standalone blog posts about this since this will enable even more than what they're already been working on and sharing with the NFT sell orders
### The Cohort Experience
- [[10:14]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h11m30s) *Season One* been a great experience and successful. What has it been like going through this process?
- [[12:00]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h12m00s) Cohort experience experience felt like a hackathon, sprint, and jam session
- Always room for iteration and improvement, but it's delicate: Process doesn't need to be super formalized
- "Get out what you put in!" → If you go hard, there's smart people to collaborate with and there are supportive teammates and lots of inspiration from other teams
- Tae and DG providing delicate pushes in the right direction and seeing how people react and see who takes the ball and runs and who makes excuses and hides
- Many folks (Travis included!) want to be involved in future iterations to help refine the onboarding sprint
### [[13:32]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h13m32s) High-Level Project Overview
- Many projects came out of the Season One Cohort:
- EthKanBan: Project management tool with smart contracts
- Create Raid App: `npm` package focused on creating a scaffolded frontend starter for app development
- Job Board: Display incoming raids where guild members can sign up based on their skillsets
- DAOhaus Rarible Boost: Enable Moloch DAOs to hold NFTs and interact with the marketplace protocols
- Web3 Database: Looking to OrbitDB integration
- Web3 Site Template: Templates for DAOs to spin up sites with Docusaurus and host on [IPFS](https://ipfs.io/)
- Became a site for the Season One cohort specifically, so that we could figure out what is needed and what features are valuable before we abstract it into a template for others to use
- Documentation specific to the cohort that is centralized info (Markdown via Docusaurus on GitHub, but decentralized hosting on IPFS)
- Skills Visualizer:
- Lots of other exploration and contribution through resource sharing and content creation
### [[16:05]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h16m05s) What is Season One?
- *Season One* was a scaffolded cohort experience to introduce folks from a variety of backgrounds and skillsets to Raid Guild
- Organic process where Tae, DG, and the others presented suggestions and project/task ideas.
- Groups organically started forming around these ideas
- Structure of the experience was *designed for emergence* and natural collaboration with a formation of squads to work on projects
- [[17:17]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h17m17s) "Hackathon vibe" -- figured out what we wanted and needed to do on a 2 week deadline and focused on shipping MVPs
- Next seasons may iterate on the foundations and MVPs → continuous improvement
- Some projects fold into Raid Guild products and others may spin out into separate things
- Things went very fast and keeping track of the projects and information could be challenging
- [[18:20]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h18m20s) Raid Guild is a decentralized collective of designers, developers, content creators, project managers (and more!) that can form squads with all roles needed to build web3 products and communities, or experiences
- People come to the guild to need help building things
- Guild comes up with things to build
### Onboarding Processes in Raid Guild (and Other DAOs)
- Cohort process scaffolds the participation and involvement in the guild
- Previously, potential recruits were dropped into the Discord with little guidance or wayfinding and were expected to catch up and contribute something
- [[19:38]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h19m38s) Season One Cohort is like a "Micro Raid Guild":
- Self-organize around projects
- Collaborate based on interests and skills and work on them
- [[20:09]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h20m09s) Learning how the guild works but also how the people *within* the guild work together to ship projects
- [[20:26]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h20m26s) In Season One, the interest and diversity in talent and people (technical, non-technical, global)
- All professionals coming in knowing what they wanted to do
- Saw a list, saw how to contribute, began doing it
- People taking initiative to provide value
- [[21:21]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h21m21s) Onboarding issues in web3 space:
- An ongoing problem is that there is an expectation of being very technical to be involved and contribute value, but there is plenty of value created by non-technical folks (and several opportunities to contribute)
- Emphasis on providing value
- Technical and non-technical folks need each other and collaborations result in a whole that's greater than the sum of the parts
- Cohorts enable folks to find ways to contribute value
- The pledging process is valuable in itself
- [[22:44]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h22m44s) Building camaraderie that may be difficult when thrown right in to the guild
- [[23:05]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h23m05s) Should people with a reputation be able to skip the cohort process?
- Immediate need to jump on raids and skip the cohort process, but there is lots of value and benefit to the cohort experience that is missed
- Every new recruit should experience the cohort process regardless of skills and background
- There is a lot of benefit to going through this process together and empower you to provide value when becoming a Member
- Building a sense of collaboration and building a sense of who to rely on
- Experiential learning very valuable
- Guild experience isn't a "seven-headed monster"
- Challenges are in information management, time management, avoiding DAOs "consuming your existence"
- Remain healthy, remain happy, focus on health and balance
- [[24:25]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h24m25s) "Heart is your navigational tool" → True excitement guides you
- Ask for help when you need it
- So much value in these types of initiatives and growing involvement and scaffolding participation
## [[27:17]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h27m17s) Deeper Dive Into the Projects
Diving into the project details and hearing more about the progress and potential next steps
### [[27:42]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h27m42s) web3 Site and Season One Template
- Evolved from original idea proposed by dekan for a web3 template into a more specific use case for organizing information about the Season One cohort
- Let's build something we need as a cohort and see how we can improve it and then package it for others
- Organizing asynchronous information and resources and create a hub for documentation and sharing
- [[28:48]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h28m48s) Addressing issues of "information availability" which is an ongoing problem when amount of information and resources hits a certain point (or when DAOs grow to a certain size)
- Centralizing critical information that folks find valuable, and providing a platform for anyone in the cohort to contribute
- [[29:12]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h29m12s) Original template idea is a big idea, so we wanted to bring in the scope and focus so that we could ship something:
- Focus on building something *we could use now* and then add content that provides immediate value to the cohort (and upcoming cohorts)
- Moved away from the abstract and focused on what the template could be *now* and what problems it could solve for us as a cohort → If it's valuable for us, it'll likely be valuable for upcoming cohorts
- How could we create an easy to spin up site using Docusaurus that can be hosted on IPFS?
- Scaled down into building a *Season One* cohort site and then abstract it to see what features are valuable
- Potentially become a template for ongoing cohort use and then abstracted into a general DAO starter
- Emphasis on *decentralized documentation*
- Site as a way to store information → "Stay awhile, and listen"
- Creating tools to scaffold blogs, docs, information availability
- Being able to build inclusive processes and hold info in a more centralized place
- [[30:33]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h30m33s) No need to recreate structure - fill in the blanks and tweak things
- How to onboard non-technical (or less technical) folks so that they can contribute content?
- Scaffolding content creation process and providing a path for folks to contribute right away and build their comfort and go deeper over time if they're interested
- [[31:30]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h31m30s) Teams are working on complex problems so they don't always have time to scaffold processes for front-facing community sites or documentation projects. How can we save these organizations and teams time?
- There's way too much to build since everything is still so new, so what can be scaffolded and templated?
- Identify what basics are needed and then provide some scaffolding
- [[33:42]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h33m42s) Two different projects (Docusaurus cohort site and the web3 React starter) with a lot of overlap
- Docusaurus for content management through Markdown on GitHub but the IPFS deployment adds an unstoppable aspect through decentralization
- **"Centralized information but in a decentralized way."**
- web3 aspects to the project are the secret sauce
- Potential integration with [Mintgate](https://www.mintgate.app/)
- Community facing static site is open to all, but there is an internal token gated with Mintgate
- Internal gated site could be for information sharing amongst DAO members and gated by DAO membership
### What's Next?
- Keeping templates clean and user-focused while adding the web3 aspects as the secret sauce
- [[36:59]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h36m59s) Importance of scaffolding via documentation and templates: "Stay awhile, and listen."
- How can we document what we've been doing and pass the torch forward?
- We streamlined some of the Docusaurus React components to add some flexibility and configurable → qualify of life improvements so folks in next cohorts can focus on content
- Growing, living documentation that comes from all the cohorts contributions as cohorts evolve
- Multiple directions that can be valuable and provide additional scaffolding
- Pre-season documentation process
- Application process, tips for newcomers, etc.
- Providing utility for those moving forward
- Choose Your Own Adventure structure for docs and onboarding
- Passing the torch forward to help improve the experience for folks who come next
- Working on resolving technical issues and pushing things forward
- Establishing a challenging onboarding process for other DAOs to follow since the size of Season One cohort is so large! RG grew so much in a single season!
- The talent is here, how do we keep energized?
- How to collectively work on things for the greater good? How to keep improving experiences for folks so that they can focus on providing value?
- How to broaden participation and push to the next level?
- [[40:45]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h40m45s) **Emergence** — organic progress
- Onboarding previously was not working once guild got to a certain size, so Tae and DG came up with *cohort* idea
- Iteration and continuous improvement
- Tools are emerging that can be used by folks in the future
- In 2 weeks we've been working on proofs of concept that can evolve into RIPs or potentially a product that spins off into its own DAO/team working on it
- Shout out to the RG team who have worked to make things lasting and welcoming
- [[42:55]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h42m55s) Building strong partnerships and community collaboration
- Incredible community building by the RG team involved in the cohort process and the "road is paved for Season Two"
- Blueprints and templates for projects, multiple different pathways that are composable
- Next season will have resource and instruction manual for spinning up a cohort site and IPFS hosting (and setting up a domain that works with IPFS)
- [[45:30]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h45m30s) Initial idea came from dekan → DAOs needing DAOhaus style frontends so that they could market and add content and a place for their communities to go to and interact with
- Information about the community beyond the DAO interface
- Providing contextual information about the DAO and community
- DAOhaus also working on "documenting the journey of a DAO" and the lifecycle
- Crossover with the template project — since Season One is a DAO, this is a solid test for discovering the use cases
- Pages and structure can embody the community
## [[47:15]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h47m15s) Validating What Worked
- 1) Discretized innovation cycles with beginning, middle, end with delivery dates → Deliver what is available:
- Continuous improvement process and learning from season to season
- **"Ritualistic delivery"** that is celebrated and could be expanded even further
- 2) Challenges are self-assigned:
- People working out of their intrinsic goals and motivations
- Not an arena — no sense of competition beyond wanting to create things that other people find value in
- 3) Defining the Membrane:
- Core elements of organization structure and system design
- What is the membrane?
- What does it take to cross it?
- What is the minimum that everyone gets for crossing the threshold?
- Substrate is the culture of the organization embedded in the cohort
- "Process of being and becoming"
### [[54:45]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=00h54m45s) Thinking About Incentives and Rewards
- Incentivized rewards dropped into the cohort DAO
- Is there a way to ascribe value creation to each member? Would this create more of a competitive vibe?
- How to do this to not make this become the motivator? This could become too much of a distraction?
- Good use case for [Coordinape](https://coordinape.com/) or [Sourcecred](https://sourcecred.io/)?
- What is the minimum? How do we weigh different types of contribution?
- Coordinape is subjective to each individual
- Everyone can give same amount but can distribute amounts to folks within the cohort based on perception of value created
- Can only *give* tokens, but you can *burn* received tokens and strictly pump up the value for others
- *Balance between adding competitive elements and incentivized rewards*
- Want to discover ways to reward each other but need to be cautious about potentially creating animosity between contributors
- [[1:00:30]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=01h00m30s) Demo Day with "investors"
- Each person in the cohort is an investor with X tokens they can allocate to projects being presented
- Can test out different ideas in each cohort and evaluate impact
- How to weave different assertions of value together?
- Need based, value based
- What types of systems can be created where folks can signal *need for funds* to the DAO
- DAOhaus is a client of Raid Guild
- These are things that DAOhaus may want to build out more and this is a potential route to continue working on these projects → grant proposal → build something that can be used by all the DAOs
- "We're making history here."
- Composability → "composable culture" → "people Legos"
- Using "Docusaurus Lego" to build something else
- Information is power
- [[1:10:13]](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1044653141?t=01h10m13s) First you give and then what you get back is priceless
- So much freedom that would never be present in a formal organization
"Push the buttons gently and with love. It pays off."
- "Process of being and becoming, and for the process of the becomer to self-define."
