Shadows of Orgirthorp
===
## Pitch
Shadows of Orgirthorp is a heist based game allowing players to form their own gang and create a fearsome reputation across the city. The mysterious Sewer King provides the funds to keep you going and a steady stream of work - even though no one has ever seen him in person.
Play is centered around setting up and planning a heist, executing a job, and dealing with the fallout.
What to expect: players will be given their choice of jobs such as "place a owlbear in the college magistrate's office" or "recruit a new dark cleric for the Undead Brothers". Jobs will have an associated wealth, experience, and reputation, allowing players to pick which jobs are best suited for their new gang.
Heists follow a very structured play order and take 1-3 sessions. There is no expectation that players will play every session, and different groups of players will all play in the same world.
In between heists, players will explore their character's personal lives and background, as well as progress towards that one final heist- or cool their heels in prison.
Play is not lethal in that characters will not die, but they may go to prison for several sessions if captured or heat gets too high.
Tone is lighthearted, but with some dark comedy. Setting is mostly a satire of high fantasy tropes.
Emphasis will be on player skill, sandbox style sessions, and high flexibility in how to approach problems- go in guns ablazing, infiltrate and decieve, or sneak in the shadows.
Players can play a variety of different races including:
- goblins
- kobolds
- skeletons
- kuo-toa
- kenku
- lizardlings
- froglings
## Description
All players are new members a gang (named by players). Their sponser is a patron who players are told little about, only that it will 1) provide them with opportunities to earn gold. 2) They must never question the Sewer King or attempt to look upon him.
Players will gradually uncover more mysteries around The Sewer King and may eventually join other organizations, but most play is assuming that they're up to no good.
Players should expect to be given very nebulous, almost insane requests and find ways to fulfill them. They may take on any job they choose, and jobs have a set amount of Gold and XP associated with them.
The Dark of Orgirthorp is set in (unsurprisingly) Orgirthrop, approximately 2 months after the events involving Lenora and the election of the archminister. Xandaur remains in power, and will persue the players as they complete jobs, along with the rest of the Orgirthorp police department.
## Contract
Players are agreeing to play characters who agree to the following terms:
1. While your goals are entirely up to you, your goals need money in some way, shape, or form.
2. Your character, whether through laziness, greed, or stupidity, sees crime as the best way to make money (no opening up bakeries).
3. While your characters are criminals and thieves, they aren't evil. Kicking puppies (or killing random merchants) will be stopped out of game rather than via in game consequences.
4. No paladins either - you may disagree with the life you're living or hope to someday leave it, but for now you see yourself stuck in it.
5. Players may come up with their own jobs, but need to do so at least one session in advance (I'm not that good at improv).
## Jobs
[Fossil of Nirn](/SdYKFpDdR1KPP70LbBq6fw)
1. Put an owlbear in the office of the college magistrate.
1. Construct an unsettling statue made entirely of teeth and put it in the yard of a local necrodentist
1. Plant evidence of bribery on a mid ranking official who oversees a tax collecting dept that is stifling the import of rare rugs
1. Someone has been selling Green Shard using children in a neighborhood. The Sewer King does not tolerate someone selling to children, especially on his turf.
1. Replace the high cleric of Osmuth with a doppleganger.
1. Wererats have taken over the sewers of the Sewer King's summer sewers. Remove them.
1. Redirect a raw sewage line onto a local park.
1. A local tourism company has been making big money showing tourists around a part of town that comes close to one of the Sewer King's drug manufacturing plants. Find a way to get them to change their route.
1. Replace the mirror in Xandaur's secretary's office with a mirror of transmission, allowing the Sewer King to spy on Xandaur
1. Destroy the files on a friend of the Sewer King from the police archives.
1. Deliver a special package to a prisoner.
1. Spark a romance between Princess Mina and suitor loyal to the Sewer King.
1. Graffiti Police Chief Gonel's house. We don't know its location.
1. Find dirt on Ildirn, the demonic cult leader who runs a orphanage and dog hospital.
1. A researcher is close to developing a stronger drug than Green Shard. Convince her to let the Sewer King be the sole owner of her research, otherwise destroy it.
1. Poison the head of the Church of Oron, Lord of Lightning, with a powerful laxative.
1. Kidnap the pet mothcat that the Sewer King's nemesis, Hordeth the Mighty, keeps in his lair.
1. A local restaurant is opening up near one of the Sewer King's restaurants (a kobold/dwarven fusion bistro). Ensure their opening night fails spectacularly.

### Fort Glump
### Troot Graveyard
### Graneth Farms
### Bertio Emporium
### Lloyd Docks
### Fifth Zoo of Orgirthorp
### High Bard University of Irnld
### Orgirthorp Mage Community College
### The Halos
These floating islands are home to a network of shining rotundas guarded by Aarakocra acolytes. When adventurers arrive here, their first impression is one of celestial majesty and quiet austerity. Very quickly, however, they discover the Halos are a tribute to trickery and a refuge for frivolity. Each rotunda is the home of a copper dragon, attended by bards and performers of every kind. Wealth and power mean little here; inventive wit is celebrated above all else, but practical jokes and shameless parodies are also greatly enjoyed. The Aarakocra caretakers laugh at the politics of the surface dwellers below, and sojourners breathe easy in the carefree atmosphere here.
### Ship/Apartments of the Pelatius
An enormous cruise ship ran aground here 20 years ago, thinking it could sail all the way up the river. The locals have dragged it mostly out of the way of the river, and have reaccomadated it to their own apartment complex.
### Pembum Charcoal Factories
## Religions
### Oiin
Oiin is a polytheistic religion that follows pretty standard D&D archetypes. Relatively unpopular, mostly only practiced by the elderly.
Achiel, Goddess of the Earth
Lisa, Lord of Dreams
Alphon, Goddess of Knowledge
Pyran, Lady of Trickery
Kusha, Lord of Protection
Sielach, Goddess of Thieves
Aninyel, Lady of Cats
Amsiel, Lord of Magic
Asdiel, Lady of Disasters
Zabez, Lady of Plants
Xapha, Lady of War
### Demon Cults
Demon cults are somewhat popular within the city. They are largely spread amongst the underworlders, but a few curious surface dwellers pay attention.
### Nerde (and Endel)
Monotheistic religon that includes two gods who are brothers. They are also the same person. If asked too much about it, any insinuation that the characters make is treated as heresy or blasphemy, though not taken too seriously (they understand it can be confusing to the unintiated).
### Ancestor Worship
Ancestor worship is hugely popular within the city amongst the upper class. Its primarily a status symbol to decorate the large, ornate tombs of their ancestors.
## Economy
### Import
Orgirthorps main import is raw timber, shipped down the Pelatius. North of Pembum, a large number of factories process it into charcoal.
### Export
The charcoal produced at the Pembum Charcoal Factories is shipped out via the Lloyd docks.
