# Wiki Tutorial In her essay, Danah Boyd sheds light on important potential harmful effects of technology on specific systems. Specifically, she writes about **Agnotology** and **Epistemological Fragmentation**, two important terms curated as a result of constant growth and utilization of technology. **Agnotology** is described as *"a tool of oppresion by the powerful"* and it is a strategic way to develop ignorance within a person or group of people. Boyd describes how this strategy is used in a number of ways in our society today, but the one that stood out to me the most was how she described a mass shooter utilizing the strategy itself to draw out this horrible act. The shooter used a number of exploitations to get more attention drawn to his crimes such as... **1. Data voids** **2. Agnatology** **3. Content moderators on streaming platforms** **4. and more**. This disturbing act of terror shows how social media, news media, and other huge technology platforms can be exploited and utilized to get large populations of people to unconsciously partake in important events. In other words to develop ignorance among large groups of people for one's benefit. ### A video going deeper into detail on the shooting: [Here](https://youtu.be/Ho1VqjRKvso?si=QBkMn2AodJIaCCW7) <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ho1VqjRKvso" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe> ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r1lVCyRO6.png) ## Image Embed Test ![image](https://i.imgur.com/c0kGRT9.jpg)
