# Artifact Science Artifact Science is a new activity for scientists to do (like circuits), to replace the EXPERIMENTOR and strange objects. It involves investigating dangerous or helpful or anything inbetween artifacts with various effects. ## Goals * Make sci actually interact with cargo outside departmental orders; sci/cargo will have to enter sci/cargo to get analyzed artifacts * Provide gimmicky, mostly random tomfoolery for the sci crew; An artifact can have a random effect, with randomized stats and randomized activation method. * Artifacts should be mostly hilariously random; you never should know when the artifact turns out to be a bomb or injects you with reagents, or is simply a lamp. ## What we actually currently have ### Artifacts themselves Can be either items, or big structures. They can be of three origins (dictates appearance and behaviour alterations in certain artifact types), **Nar-sie** (code-wise narnar), **Wizard** (code-wise wiznerd), **Ancient** They start out with 1 to 2 triggers, which you will need to discover to activate it. Currently, we have triggers for **Data, Carbon Touch, Silicon Touch, Heat, Radiation, Electricity, Force**, amongst some others Notably, touching an artifact triggers Carbon Touch if your hand is organic, or Silicon Touch if it isnt. Artifacts can have some of those triggers stimulated by certain items. Triggers, are activated by **stimuli**, more potent artifacts require larger amounts of this stimuli (more force, etc.) ***Potency is decided by the artifact type based on how relatively strong it is*** Now for the fun part, they have a random function. These functions are randomly picked, with some types being rarer. Artifact types can do a wide variety of things so its barely worth elaborating in this context ### Analysis Forms Stickers, can be wrote on. Its UI has a checklist that you can check with a pen, to write down what you think it is (origin,type, triggers) Sticking it to an artifact, appends its type that you wrote on the form, and changes its name to its name for that origin. Artifacts without analysis forms sell for -200. They sell for 12 with an empty one. Rarer artifacts sell for more if analyzed properly. ### Testing machine(s) to replace EXPERIMENTOR Machines to test and activate artifacts. Xray machine sends radiation stimulus to artifact, and prints out its custom defined traits, if any. Can also irradiate people if emagged. Heating pad, is an atmos device that heats people and artifacts on top of it to the temperature of the gas in the pipes. It passively cools the gas to 20C Artifact Zapper (better name pending), drains a lot of APC power to stimulate an artifact. ## How to get Replaces strange objects in maintenance, spawns less often Asteroid and lavaland mining, twice as rare as a bluespace crystal Must be gotten through some random event, or asteroid mining
