Introduction
First of all, thank you for your interest in joining today video session and listening in about Polkadot Hackathon. First of all, if you haven't registered yet, please click on the above link and register.
I will go through some of the logistics and about the hackathon and at the end there will be time to do some Q&As with the audiences.
Key Dates
First of all, these are the key dates (time mentioned below are in UTC +8):
- May 5th, 2022: Registration starts
- May 5th - Jun 22nd: Code your project
- May 20th 20:00: Online Team Foramtion Session
- May 21st 20:00: Opening Ceremony
- End of Jun 22nd: Application and submission deadline for initial screening.
- End of Jun 24th: Screening and Result Announcement
- Jun 29th - Jun 30th: Hackathon In-person (Demo Day) Session
- Jun 30th: Demo Day Winner Announcement

We highly encourage you to form a team. In the past hackathons we have conducted, we see that teams has better project submission and winning rate. Your team can be of a size of 2 - 6 people.
But if you are a solo hacker, we welcome you to participate as well.
Judging Criteria
From Project Screening:
- 10% - Completion: Your submission can demonstrate a few end-to-end flows or scenario on how users will interact with it
- 10% - Technical: Our engineers will review your code and assign score based on technical elegance and any algorithm implemented
- 10% - UI/UX: Score based on how seamless the submission frontend is.
On Demo Day:
- 40% - Project Prospect / Commercial Value: including the value to bring to the Web3 ecosystem and overall society. What problem your app is going to solve and your approach on solving the problem.
- 30% - Stage Performance: including your stage presentation performance, any video recorded or in-person demoing your submission.

Submission
Now regarding the project submission, it will be mainly conducted on Github.
Bookmark this Github repo: Hackathon 2022 Summer
Upon registration, please create your team folder as teams/XX-teamName
in the repo, put an empty file inside, and submit a PR first. (READ: do it after this opening ceremony if you have registered for the hackathon.) You don't need to upload any other content. This is just to create a placeholder and a sequence number for your team.
Before the end of Jun 22nd, you will need to submit a PR to the repo in your team folder containing:
- The project source code (must compile and build)
- Project and team description. The Project description outlines the problem you are solving and your approach of solving it. See here for a suggested project description outline.
- A 5 mins video describing your project and demoing the interaction with your submission
- (optional) project deck/slides if you have one.
All submitted materials must be in english (or at least include an english version).
The result will be announced by the end of Jun 24th.
