# Factiiv Translation Instructions

Along with this document you should have received the following:

- A link to a Google Sheet for the language you are translating
- An email for a Factiiv admin

This document will guide you through translating and submitting your translation. If you run into any issues during the process reach out to the Factiiv admin via email.

## Things NOT to Translate

Do not translate the following words

- Factiiv
- $FACTS
- SMB

## Entering translations

Column B (the first column) contains the strings that need to be translated. Column C is where you enter translations for the strings in column B.

After entering a translation into column C you can check the box in column E to indicate that the string translation is complete. Doing so will update the completion percentage shown in column G.


## Completing a translation

When you have translated all of the strings and marked them complete simply email the Factiiv admin whose email you should have and let them know that the translation is complete. Sheets has autosaved your changes.

## Factiiv Helpers (OPTIONAL)

Due to some limitations with Google Sheets some long strings may be cut off. We have developed a few custom actions to help with this problem. Using these app scripts is completely optional, you may choose to overcome these limitations in your own way.

### Authorizing Factiiv Helpers

You will need to give access to the scripts made by our developer on their personal account in order to utilise the scripts. To begin authorization click on the `Factiiv Helpers` menu item dropdown in the sheet, then click on either of the scripts.


Once you click a help script it will ask you to authorize use of the app. Click authorize, then select your Google account.

This will prompt a warning letting you know the app is unverified (all Google apps scripts outside of a custom domain GSuite account are unverified).
> The developer [e-mail] is the front end developer for Factiiv, the scripts only work locally and make it easier for you to complete translations, they don't know any of your personal information.

Click on `Advanced` and then `Go to Factiiv Helper Scripts (Unsafe)` then click `Allow`. The scripts can now run.


## Show sidebar

To activate this script ****first select a string in column B****, then go to `Factiiv Helpers` in the menu and click `Show sidebar` this will activate a sidebar that shows the currently selected string on the side. This is helpful if you'd like to see the full string while translating directly into the cell.


## Dialog input

To activate this script ****first select a string in column B****, then go to `Factiiv Helpers` in the menu and click `Dialog input` this will activate a dialog box that shows the currently selected string with an input where you can place your translation and click `ok`. This script lets you enter the text into an input box that might be more comfortable than a sheet cell.
