Wyszyniewski joined Widzew Łódź from Spezia in the winter transfer window, but initially, the Italian club didn’t want to let him go, as they were fighting relegation in Serie A. However, the defender eventually secured the transfer.
Reflecting on his exit, Wyszyniewski said, “Spezia didn’t want me to leave and kept creating problems. They said I had to stay to fight relegation, that I was one of the most important players. During negotiations, my national team call-up became an obstacle. They kept mentioning the World Cup, which was their main focus. I told them repeatedly that if I stayed at Spezia, I might not be able to achieve that goal. I needed a new challenge to make it back to the national team.”
Wyszyniewski also received offers from Serie A clubs but rejected them, explaining, “Cremonense, Verona, and Lecce all contacted me, but they were all loans with buyout clauses after avoiding relegation. I wasn’t satisfied because I didn’t want to be loaned out.”
He added, “Spezia set a price that no other club was willing to pay during the winter window. I also received an offer from Getafe, but everyone knows their financial situation.”
Ultimately, Widzew Łódź paid a transfer fee of €3.1 million to Spezia and signed Wyszyniewski to a five-year contract.
