Ahead of Sunday’s 15:00 derby against Nice, Monaco sit only 10th in the Ligue 1 standings, and fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the sporting policies implemented by Scuro. After chants calling for his dismissal were heard in the stands, the discontent took a more direct form on Saturday morning at the club’s training base.
Early that day, graffiti reading “Scuro dégagé” was discovered on the exterior walls of the La Turbie training facility. Supporters also organized a gathering at 10:30 a.m., collectively urging the sporting director to resign. Despite the criticism, Scuro remained active during the recent winter transfer window, signing Simon Adingra, who is currently injured.
However, results have yet to improve. Monaco have won just one of their last six matches. Although the team qualified for the Champions League playoffs, their European prospects appear challenging, with a clash against reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain looming at Stade Louis II.
Crucially, Scuro is still facing backlash for a disappointing summer transfer window. Ansu Fati has yet to truly fill the gap expected of him; Paul Pogba’s return is currently viewed as an unsuccessful move, while Eric Dier and Lukáš Hrádecký have struggled with poor form or injuries.
Despite the graffiti incident, the act did not receive unanimous support on social media. One fan wrote: “We’re not Marseille, for heaven’s sake! Protest by singing if you want, but don’t graffiti! Respect ourselves — he doesn’t deserve that.” Another supporter agreed: “You can make demands, but graffiti isn’t acceptable. We must stay respectful; we are Monaco.” Others added: “We’ve always had more class.”
