Math Runway 系列活動的目標是提供讀數學所需要的各種協助，讓大家藉由這些活動當做起飛的跑道，一窺數學的奧妙。活動的設計一方面讓大家可以多了解數學的各種相貌，另一方面則針對常見的錯誤或困難辦理輔導課程。有一些活動會以英文為主進行、或是一起看一些英文的數學文章，藉以讓大家更增進英文能力、且習慣原文書。

拼出你的證明

在學習證明的時候，讀懂每一個步驟很重要；但另一個同等重要的是「收功」的動作，意思是在讀完證明後，花點時間回想整個證明的流程、大架構是什麼、每一個步驟的必要性等等。把大架構和小細節都想透後，才算了解一個證明。

化學與群論的糾纏

本次分享會將從「群」的定義開始，說明幾何結構（例如分子結構）中的「對稱元素」如何形成一個群。通過分析分子結構展現的對稱元素，我們可以將不同分子歸類到不同的「點群」。一旦確定了分子屬於哪個點群，就可以將分子的單電子波函數（即俗稱的「軌域」）根據其對各種對稱元素是對稱(symmetric)還是反對稱(anti-symmetric)進行分類。演講最後將通過軌域間的相互作用為例，展示如何利用對稱性分類來迅速判斷這些相互作用是否存在。

當大家都遵守一些簡單規則來行動時，就構成了一場遊戲。好玩的遊戲常常是規則簡單卻變幻萬千。自然世界是否只是遵守物理定律的遊戲？生物行為是否只是基因的遊戲？人類行動可以化約成一些原則與準則嗎？我們可以用數學和程式來探討這個問題。

假設現在你手上有兩串數字：612551跟112556。然後我跟你說這兩組數字裡面有一個是人工的，另一個是拿六面骰骰出來的。請問你覺得哪一組比較像是人工的？我們人類天生對「隨機性」有著一些直覺，但是那些直覺不盡然會是對的。在這次的活動中，我們會稍微聊一聊隨機性，並且會準備一個小活動讓與會的朋友們牛刀小試一番：看看你能不能「製造」出幾可亂真的隨機字串。
