# Glamsterdam EIP Priorities - Reth Team
Below is a compiled list of EL EIPs the Reth team proposes to prioritize for Glamsterdam on top of EIPs which have already been scheduled for inclusion (ref https://github.com/ethsteel/pm/issues/7). The list is categorized in Tier 1 (high priority) and Tier 2 (additional high value).
## Key Points
We've looked at each EIP in the list from 2 angles:
- **Performance impact:** Repricing EIPs (EIP-2780, EIP-7904) are critical to reflect actual computational costs and facilitate performance optimisations
- **Developer experience impact:** EIPs 7907 and 8024 solve longstanding pain points (bytecode size limits, stack too deep)
**Tier 1 - High Priority:**
- EIP-2780 - better performance
- EIP-7904 - better performance
- EIP-7907 - better developer experience
- EIP-8024 - better developer experience
**Tier 2 - Additional High Value:**
- EIP-7708 - high value for indexing
- EIP-7923 - better performance & developer experience

## Tier 1: High Priority
### Performance
#### EIP-2780: Reduce intrinsic transaction gas
**Link:** https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-2780
**TLDR:** Reduces intrinsic transaction gas and charges 25k when a value transfer creates a new account. Improves transaction throughput and reduces costs.
**Impact:** Performance optimization that directly impacts transaction processing efficiency, enabling higher throughput capacity benefits users with lower transaction costs (especially ~71% reduction for ETH transfers) and node operators with better block space utilization.
---
#### EIP-7904: General Repricing
**Link:** https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7904
**TLDR:** Gas cost repricing to reflect computational complexity and transaction throughput increase. Updates gas costs to match actual execution costs.
**Impact:** Performance optimization that ensures gas costs accurately reflect computational reality, enabling better resource management benefits users with fairer pricing and DeFi protocols with better gas optimization opportunities.
---
### Developer Experience
#### EIP-7907: Meter Contract Code Size And Increase Limit
**Link:** https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7907
**TLDR:** Increases the contract code size limit introduced in EIP-170 and adds gas metering to code loading.
**Impact:** Solves bytecode size limit issues, making contract development much safer by reducing complexity.
---
#### EIP-8024: Backward compatible SWAPN, DUPN, EXCHANGE
**Link:** https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-8024
**TLDR:** Introduces additional instructions for manipulating the stack which allow accessing the stack at higher depths.
**Impact:** Solves stack too deep errors, results in better quality of live for app development.
---
## Tier 2: Additional High Value EIPs
### EIP-7708: ETH Transfers Emit a Log
**Link:** https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7708
**Category:** Developer Experience / Indexing
**TLDR:** Adds ERC20-like logs for native ETH value transfers.
**Impact:** Makes data indexing consistent between native ETH and ERC20 tokens benefits wallet developers with unified transfer tracking, exchanges with better smart contract wallet deposit support, and data analysts with consistent event logs across all value transfers.
---
### EIP-7923: Linear, Page-Based Memory Costing
**Link:** https://eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7923
**Category:** Performance / Developer Experience
**TLDR:** Linearizes memory costing and replaces the current quadratic formula with a page-based cost model.
**Impact:** Makes the memory model more deterministic, gives developers with more predictable memory costs.
