Streaming and Recording for Olympus DAO

# Streaming and Recording for Olympus DAO
Hey Fren! So you're gonna stream and record content for OlympusDAO? That's awesome! Thanks for helping.
To get started, you will need a couple of tools on your journey. It's dangerous to go alone, take this:
## Tools of the Trade
### OBS
[Open Broadcaster Software (OBS)](https://obsproject.com/)
This is a free tool that allows an individual to record and stream broadcast media from a video and audio source. It's very easy to use and should suit our needs just fine.
### Twitch
[TwitchTV](https://www.twitch.tv/)
Currently the the DAO is sending all of its streaming media to Twitch as a respository as such, it may be helpful to get the Twitch Client and ensure you have a functioning Twitch Account for ease of use.
## Setup
At this point, you should have OBS installed. There are a couple of questions asked via the Wizard and you can just select that you plan on streaming and recording and clicking through. A freshly installed OBS will look something like this:

So really, there isn't a whole lot to to adjust to set this up. The main place you will be working is in the Sources Window:

In this window you can add and remove input sources that you will record from. For our purposes you will need two, one which will capture the video from the Discord Stage or another source that you are recording and/or streaming and second, the audio feed from your desktop. To add these sources, you will click the + sign and then select them from a list:

### Audio Input Capture
When you select this item and hit 'Okay' a menu will pop up to create a new Audio Input Source and you will be given a drop down with a list of audio devices on your computer to monitor. For most people, picking 'Default' is fine as that will likely capture everything out of the computer. This also means recording system sounds, music, media, movies so if you were were recording a broadcast and started listening to Spotify, it's gonna capture all of it. For more advanced users that might have multipule headphones or an external sound card, you will see all the outputs possible so pick what is correct for your setup.
**WARNING: Be careful about open Mic's because if you pick default, it could also start recording any microphone input as well.**
### Window Capture
Window Capture provides a means to tell OBS to record a specific window instead of your entire desktop. This is helpful so that you can be sure your recording just the Discord Stage where all the action is happening and not your desktop where everybody can see the tabs you have open or private message that might pop up as banners. Using Window Capture, recording will only be localized to the specified window.

## Recording
Now that you have both of these items defined, you should be able to do a test recording to make sure everything is working. Go ahead and fire up a media source like Youtube or Spotify and get audio playing. Make your you've picked a window you want to record in the Window drop down under Window Capture. You will know it's selected because there will be a yellow box around it on your desktop. Once your ready, push 'Start Recording'

In the bottom right, you'll a red recording light, a counter for time spent recording and a CPU meter. Let music play (You should see the VU Meters (Green, Yellow and Red) bouncing with the audio indicating signal and ideally, they're in the green or to yellow bands. If it's in the red, your clipping audio and should reduce the volume so that it's not distorted. Once some time has passed, you can hit Stop Recording and you'll see the path to the file you created at the bottom.

## Streaming
Currently, Community Calls are streamed to the official [DAO Twitch Stream](https://www.twitch.tv/olympusdao) where they are archived as VOD's. To stream via Twitch, you will ned the Private Streaming Key which can be provided by the Olympus LEARN Stratego or his/her delegate. With that key in hand, in OBS you can go to File -> Settings -> Streaming. From there, set the Service to Twitch and allow OBS to auto-select the Server. You will also enter the Olympus DAO Private Stream Key which will allow you to go live.

With this entered, when you are ready to go live, make sure the appropriate window you wish to capture has focus (Outlined in Yellow) and your Audio Input is set to the proper Interface and Channel. Once verified, you can push the Start Streaming button in the bottom right.

*Streaming is fairly intensive so I would recommend leaving your machine alone to get a good clean recording. This includes background tasks that might cause frame drops or for an unintended change in focus to cause audio to stop or to break the stream*
Once the stream is completed, Twitch will automatically upload the VoD and title it cOHMunity Call.
## Process Flow
This will be defined once the Marketing Merger is completed.
