# ink! Follow-up Illustrations 4 ### Spanish Illustration We're gonna translate our documentation into Spanish. That's the bus illustration we're working on. ### Animal phoning another for 4.1 release For our ink! 4.1 release we need an illustration similar to 4.0. So again with the version number centered, but this time the other element should be our Squink phoning another animal. Maybe you can use one the old-school telephone with the curly wire? ### Questions illustration I always use this slide as the last in presentations: ![](https://i.imgur.com/GFsxiFY.png) It's pretty boring. What we should have is a more interesting one. I like the question mark pattern on the Riddler (batman villain) suit. So having question marks in different sizes, rotations like here: ![](https://i.imgur.com/RGF7jEa.jpg) We could e.g. do this as a general background pattern. We should have three general-purpose fields where people can insert a URL, a mail or whatever else they want. So just have some generic text containers that people can fill. Ideally those fields would not be a fixed container, but instead in a way that it doesn't matter if the text that someone inserts is 10 characters or 20. ### Academy Illustration We need a 16:9 illustration with a squid and an academic hat. Just in general a university/academic vibe there. Maybe also in the background? Context is that we will be teaching at the Polkadot Academy again. It's more public now: https://polkadot.network/academy/. ### Icon for "Examples" We need an icon to illustrate "Click here for examples". I think something like this is a good direction: ![](https://i.imgur.com/JznrdpY.png) Just that the mountain not really works. Anything indicating code though would. ### Icon for "Integration Testing" We need an icon along those lines: ![](https://i.imgur.com/fn2GGO8.jpg) It should be four puzzle pieces clicking together. Either: * The puzzle pieces each have a part of a checkmark and clicked together they form the picture of a checkmark. * or the circle contains a checkmark. I prefer the first one. ### Icon for "Formal Verification" We need an icon for "formal verification", which is a very high standard of testing. ![](https://i.imgur.com/Cc0YVae.jpg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Fy40r2Q.jpg) ### Icon for "Benchmarks" We need an icon for benchmarking. Something along those lines: ![](https://i.imgur.com/pzCFloQ.png) ### Icon for Audit complete We need an icon that is along those lines: ![](https://i.imgur.com/2jWID3y.png) To illustrate that ink! has been audited. Kinda like a quality indicator. ### Testing Pyramid We need a pyramid. The layers should be from top down: * Formal Verification (so that's the top) * E2E Testing * Integration Testing * Unit Testing Maybe each layer can be a bit different from the rest. Please use Montserrat as the font. ### Testing Pyramid Icon Can you put the above into an icon? The icon doesn't have to contain text, just the rough pyramid outline. ### Internet Explorer + Solidity Logo You had drawn the Solidity logo a while ago. Can you think of a way to marry the Solidity logo with the Internet Explorer logo? The idea is that we, in a playful way, talk about our main competitor as being "the Internet Explorer" of programming languages. ![](https://i.imgur.com/FbQ3SXD.png =200x)+ ![](https://i.imgur.com/d2nPSXN.png =200x) ### ink!ubator We are gonna start up a new initiative called ink!ubator and will need: * a 16:9 illustration that has ink!ubator written somewhere in it. * an icon. I like this idea: ![](https://i.imgur.com/OI5lhtb.png) So kind of a "growing tank". Could also be an entire forrest growing in it or something entirely different. ### Aleph Zero launch There is a project called Aleph Zero: https://alephzero.org. They will soon launch with support for ink! and we need a 16:9 illustration to celebrate that. This is their white logo: https://alephzero.org/wp-content/uploads/logo.svg Their whole look is kinda like this: ![](https://i.imgur.com/2ULxe4s.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/4cENaUz.png) It would be great to "marry" our ink! look with this one. So our illustration can have the usual ink! look, but this mathematical graph with nodes connected via edges should be an overarching theme. So the whole illustration should have this technical vibe to it, we don't need any specific objects. So the main thing: Have this kind of graph in the illustration plus the ink! logo and the aleph zero logo. Maybe there's some way of including a squid with the graph. ### How Storage works We need a pretty version of this schema: ![](https://i.imgur.com/o5pKV0c.png) Adobe Source Code Pro as the monospace font. And this element: ![](https://i.imgur.com/FBeiJZA.png) Background should just be transparent. The schema should work both on light and dark background. For the database icon something along those lines: ![](https://i.imgur.com/XiV6hAS.png) Just write "Database" below it, in Montserrat. ### link!: UI We need a proper container window here: ![](https://i.imgur.com/aLu7L7m.png) Can you please illustrate this concept you posted a while ago? ![](https://i.imgur.com/rUprJqN.jpg) The text field here would contain "link!". You can use the Freude font for it. ### Icon Spanish/English Can you come up with a round shaped icon for Spanish and English? The icons would be used in here: ![](https://i.imgur.com/FE9Zl8k.png) So they won't be big. I would ideally like to avoid country flags in the icons. Let's explore if we can get to something recognizable. For Spanish let's go with a colorful one, like for the bus. Maybe have notes in the icon and make it just very colorful? Or a little dancer? For the English maybe a little tea cup and the blue/red colors from the UK flag. Not ideal, but I can't think of a better fitting thing right now. We'll write "English" and "Spanish" next to the icons, in this topbar. ### Title illustration for https://github.com/paritytech/awesome-ink The `awesome-ink` repository is our showcase list of great things for ink!. We need a 16:9 illustration for the header there. Maybe something with the raised hands you did in the middle? ![](https://i.imgur.com/u8UzedG.png) And confetti and celebrations around it? Like 🎉 🎊. ### Event Announcement We will have a number of events in Buenos Aires in Jan/Feb. Those will be meetups and we need an illustration for social media to announce them. It should be 16:9 and have room for this information: * Title of the event * Subtitle of the event * Location * Date * Speaker: We will use our speaker containers that you created in the past. * Polkadot and Kusama logo on the top right. Can you come up with a mock of how this could look? So just take some random info for the above. As title you can take "Write Smart Contracts in Rust for Polkadot". For subtitle you can take: Learn how to write smart contracts in Rust using ink!. For "ink!" use our text logo please. As font Freude. As colors let's orient at the ones you use for the Spanish bus. I like the overall layout here: ![](https://i.imgur.com/zocy8se.jpg) I'm not sure if we should go for a reduced layout like this or a full illustration like with the bus. ### Profile Photos We had a bigger project at Parity in June: https://www.parity.io/blog/how-we-created-50K-NFTs-for-Polkadot-Decoded-2022-in-one-month?utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=50k%20nfts&utm_content=parity. 50k unique pics were generated for conference attendees. They looked like this: ![](https://i.imgur.com/g3xyMeP.png) So it was variations that resulted in unique photos. A lot of people in the community use the one they got assigned as profile pictures nowadays. I would like to explore procedurally generated images for ink!. We could have those for an ink! event and distribute them among attendees. Everyone would get a unique one as an NFT, so they would own their photo. I think with very hard lighting we could achieve an ink! look. Our 3D artist (Simon, also from Russia, currently in Montenegro) would create 3D models that can be composed and generate variations of those that look like illustrations. That's only my vague idea though! As a starting point the action for you is: Can you think of profile photos that have the same look as our illustrations? It could be super abstract coral reefs, or more specific characters like the ones above. It would be great if you could explore different directions that we could take here. In an ideal world we would have something that can be used as a profile pic. A requirement for that is that we need different elements that can be composed in one way or another. Only in a next step I would pull the 3D artist in. Let's just go wild for now and see what possibilities we can come up with. ### Polkadot Architecture ![](https://i.imgur.com/IMIScvm.jpg) We need this picture in the ink! style. The symbols which they chose for block, collator, etc. should remain the same. But we can do our own thing on the overall schema. So e.g. not have everything so clean. Also the central circle can be not so perfect round. Or it could be along those lines: ![](https://i.imgur.com/JbcrpHJ.png) Maybe you have more ideas. We can also switch the colors up as we like. Though a version where we try to use the Polkadot rosa as much as possible would be good to see. ### QR Code container Do you have a more interesting idea to place a QR code on a slide? So far I sometimes have it like this, which is pretty boring: ![](https://i.imgur.com/VPWOavl.png) ### Icon for "Secured by light client" Could you create a version of both these: ![](https://i.imgur.com/zs16hYM.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/mOwuiQv.png) They should have this in the middle: ![](https://i.imgur.com/KfkBQXM.jpg) Above the logo it should say "Secured by" and below "Light Client" ### Icon for Linter A linter is a programm that examines an ink! contract for errors. I think a good icon could be a magnifying glass with a "bug" in it. ![](https://i.imgur.com/vsOgv8T.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/vb6swIF.png) ### Icon to link to our YouTube content I like this direction: ![](https://i.imgur.com/lQlfWaq.png) ### Infocards ![](https://i.imgur.com/kWEcrxC.jpg) Those infocard sketches you made become relevant again now with YouTube. I think those will be good for being animated. Could you create an illustration of the marked ones? In 16:9, as well as 9:16 please. ### Create a Big photo container for Alex.
