# First steps in edutrans (EN)
## Onboarding
* the onboarding only works via an admin:
* an admin must register you in the edutrans platform with your **name**, **e-mail** and **user name**
* as soon as this is done, you will receive an e-mail from edutrans

* you have to click on the link to confirm your e-mail address and change the password
* as soon as this is completed, you can log in at [https://login.edutrans21.org](https://login.edutrans21.org)
## Login
* an overview page with the available tools is displayed at [https://login.edutrans21.org](https://login.edutrans21.org)
* relevant for you are [Cloud](https://cloud.edutrans21.org) and [Chat](https://matrix.edutrans21.org)

# Chatservice Matrix
There are various ways to use the chat service on the edutrans platform:
## Use via Element or Schildi Desktopapp
* the registration process works as described here for the Element desktop app and the Element mobile app
* download element here [here](https://element.io/download)
* <span style="color:red;">**Attention:**</span> please **do not** install **Element X**, as this app is not yet supported by the server (**install Classic Element**)
* If you can't download Element, use [Schildi](https://schildi.chat/) or [FluffyChat](https://fluffychat.im/) app
* after you have installed the app, you must first specify a different home server. This is `synapse.edutrans21.org`

* as soon as you have confirmed this, you will be taken back to the login page
* select access via login.edutrans21.org there

* a browser window opens with the edutrans login page
* enter your access data here and confirm

* switch back to Element and you are logged in
* have fun chatting with us
## Use via browser
* open the URL [matrix.edutrans21.org](https://matrix.edutrans21.org)
* log in with your access data
* a chat client appears in the browser window
* you can use this via the browser
* <span style="color:red;">we recommend the use of a **desktop** or **mobile app**</span>
* Why? As soon as the tab or browser is closed, you will not receive any messages and are therefore no longer up to date 😉
* We also recommend the 'Set up Secure Backup' option
* You should keep the security key you create in a safe place
* this is used to backup your data or to restore encrypted messages
# Cloud service Nextcloud
* Nextcloud is a **cloud service** like *Google Drive* or *MS OneDrive*. Here you can store, share and collaboratively edit files and much more
* Login via https://cloud.edutrans21.org with yor edutrans credentials
* folders can be shared *with you* after you have successfully logged in
## Set language
* click on your profile in the upper area (right)
* go to 'Persönliche Einstellungen' / 'Sprache' and set it to english
