Dock on to the short side of the floating island 2. Pulls out the linked panels via an electromechanical harvesting system 3. The panels are temporarily stored on the boat. 4. After that the panels with pre-planted saplings will be 'planted' in the floating food island. 5. The harvest boat travel to a processing shed on the shore. 6. Then he unloaded the harvest and load a new batch of young plantlets. ### Plastics and recycling conclusion Although being hard to make something that floats, out of plastic, even recycled one, it is still a choice that can make a change in the world that we are living in. Trying to reuse something is always better than creating something out of new materials. ### Materials Every material has its difficulties for some materials we do not know if it is useful for the diverse needs of the product. Some materials are already out of the question. We wanted to investigate the mycelium because it has a lot of the properties we are looking for. ![](https://i.imgur.com/8jHUuLS.jpg) ### Dimensions Plants By arranging everything on the boat we can definitely save a lot of space and make everything compact. This can even reduce power usage. ![](https://i.imgur.com/8guvdhI.jpg) ### Competitors Conclusion, there are no real competitors. No large scale on water crop farms. ### Ergonomics Things to keep in mind: Room to move around. The trays are 120cm, so you need more than that to move with the tray. A turning circle of around 150cm. Don't stack trays to high. Without any help 4 trays would be too high at 2 meters. Try to keep walking distance at a minimum. It will be faster and easier on the workers. ### Docking system Lift the racks up and move it by using a rail system. With this rail system you can unload the whole rack block at once. ### Mothership concept conclusion Conclusions that were made in previous papers in this research field are still very abstract in their findings. Potential concepts require further information as well as prototyping. ## Brainstorming and ideation ![](https://i.imgur.com/vHqOxct.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/ezba4Z5.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/lHVNOMW.png) ![](https://i.imgur.com/H7YWTQh.png)
