**Erde** is the third planet from Sol and the only planet in the [Sol](/-2UTOZR-Qv2LKqE_ua0dPQ) system to support life. About 71.2% of the planet is covered in saltwater oceans, making Erde an ocean world. Most of the water on Erde is retained in its polar ice caps. The other 28.8% of the planet is land and is widely covered by vegetation, giving the land a green tint from orbit.
