The **Pan-Gezena Federation (P.G.F. or PGF)**, sometimes referred to as simply Gezena, Pan-Gezena, or The Federation, is a nation of the planet Kalixcis in the Bezuts system. The polity is a federal republic, consisting of states and unincorporated holdings. Gezena is considered to be one of the largest and most powerful nations of the modern day, with a military consistently ranked as the strongest in the known galaxy and a highly developed economy. A majority of its population is made of [Sarathi](/KIK7LlkzTkCuwtJzp7PHlA) and [Elzuosa](/FhdvDg3mQhqbUvzcl5r1tw), the native sapients of Kalixcis.
# Structure

The Pan-Gezena Federation consists of many states of varying sizes and numerous holdings, the latter of which are unincorporated colonies, stations, and uninhabited planets in several locations. Though these states have some degree of self-governance, federal-level legislation is enforced across the entirety of the Federation.
### Government

Policy-making is done through a parliamentary representative system, where representatives of states and non-state organizations vote on issues in the National Diet, a unicameral legislature. The executive branch is comprised of ministers appointed by the Diet, headed by a Chief Minister, chosen by a preferential vote of the general populace. The Chief Minister indirectly wields a large amount of power as they are able to veto bills and give direct orders to various ministries.

The President is elected by a direct vote of the general populace. They act as a ceremonial leader of the nation and are the commander-in-chief of the military. They appoint a Chief of Defense to act as their direct subordinate in the military chain of command, selected from currently serving generals or admirals.
## Military

The **Federation Armed Branches** are the various military forces of the Pan-Gezena Federation. The president acts as commander-in-chief of the branches. Gezena spends large amounts on its military, with about 20% of the yearly budget dedicated to its defense. The Federation Armed Branches consistently rank among the top fighting forces in the galaxy.

Numerous techniques are employed to encourage enlistment, such as nationalist propaganda, generous incentives and benefits, and education opportunities.

Much of the equipment and technology used by the Federation Armed Branches is developed by [Etherbor Technologies](/hNoOmTImTnKenVQMdBDbkQ), a major defense, aerospace, and agriculture contractor.
### Office of the President

The **Gezenan President** is the commander-in-chief to the entirety of the Armed Branches, with presidential orders overriding all other commands from any other level of military. The president is elected by a direct vote of the general populace of the PGF and holds mostly soft social power outside of their command over the military.
### Chief of Defense

The **Chief of Defense** is second-in-command to the President and is personally appointed by them. They are the only person capable of vetoing a presidential order, and becomes acting president during a time of war if the President is severely sick, injured, dead, or otherwise inable.
### Gezenan Defense Council

The **Gezenan Defense Council** is an advisory board consisting of expert military advisors and strategists. They advise the president, who is often a civilian authority, on matters of defense, crafting strategies to best achieve the nation's war goals. The councilmembers are hand-picked by the President from all current active military personnel. Refusal of this assignment once selected is generally frowned upon.

Recently, Etherbor Technologies was given a single seat on the council, and can select a representative to be approved by the President from within their ranks.
### Defense Communications Agency

The **Defense Communications Agency** is an auxiliary department that falls under the umbrella of the Department of Defense. It serves as a support office to aid with the coordination of military administration as well as miscellaneous tasks. It also serves as a foreign intelligence service, and is tasked with gathering, processing, and analyzing national security information from around Kalixcis, Bezuts, and the entire sector.
# Culture

Gezenan culture is a rich blend of influences, often being described as a 'melting pot' of cultures, forming a single unified Gezenan identity. Gezenan culture has taken on some influence from Solarian and Egyean societies, emphasizing duty to society and the state, work ethic, and enterprising attitude.

The core of Gezenan culture is hyperindividualism. The PGF is seen by many as a land of opportunity and liberty, with it being possible for anyone to make their own success. This drives many to work as hard as they can to become the ideal self-made Gezenan enteurpreneur.
# Factional Relations

There is a great deal of history between the PGF and other states on Kalixcis, though none are as relevant as the PGF's hostilities with the [Zohil Explorat](/XDz9gSrkSlyUxQU_bFWiqA). After the Revolution 2352, the Gezenan government prioritized opposition of the new revolutionary government as its chief foreign policy. Hostilities continued even after the theocratic counter-revolution, and the world looks to be on the verge of a new Zohil-Gezena War.

With the recent formation of the [Ahninsa Chain](/RH8iIV5qT4yZGflxOdq5Fw), Federation foreign policy has further complicated. The Federation and Explorat are both too busy to divert resources to break the Chain, and some in all three factions hope that trade and economic agreements can be reached with the Chain. Otherwise, the Federation and Chain are on tense relations, with both factions posturing aggressively at each-other. The PGF's current strategy is to attempt to destabilize the Chain through subterfuge and economic sanctions.
