# IOI tags Last updated: 2023-04-13 URL for this page: https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/tags URL for this site: https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/how-we-work IOI applies metadata-- in the form of subject tags-- to citations of published works collected in the [Open Infrastructure Tracking Project](https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/oitp) (OITP) platform and in [IOI's group Zotero library](https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/zotero). We update our list of approved tags as needed, depending on IOI's current strategic focus, stakeholder concerns, and industry trends. Our tagging is modelled on that of the [Open Access Tracking Project](https://cyber.harvard.edu/hoap/OATP_tags) (OATP). We have adopted some of its tagging language and tag definitions (sometimes word for word). We remain very grateful to OATP for its generous example. We add tags according to a flat hierarchy. :round_pushpin: Both OITP and Zotero run on software that affords browsing and narrowing by subject tag.
