## What is this?
Lightweight guidelines for IOI communications and engagement staff on how we use social media at IOI.
*Note: this is not a policy that covers how IOI staff should use their personal social media accounts*
## Where is IOI's social media presence?
- Twitter: https://twitter.com/investinopen
- Mastodon: https://indieweb.social/@investinopen
- LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/69534884/
## Other tools we use with social media
- Scheduling: we use [Buffer](https://buffer.com/) to schedule posts on our main Twitter account and LinkedIn
- Tweetdeck: as a news monitoring tool
## Do's and Don't's
### Do
- Always add alt-text to images, gifs, and videos
- Tweet frequently and at the right time: Monday and Tuesday mornings Eastern time (6-8am ET) are good times for publicizing something new; aim to tweet 3-5 times a week
- Retweet often - amplify and signal boost the work of others!
### Don't's
- Use too many or repeated emojis - this becomes very annoying for screenreaders
- Use more than three hashtags, and CamelCase them to increase accessibility
