# Description of IOI research products Last updated: 2023-01-16 URL for this page: https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/research-products URL for this site: https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/how-we-work The following is a brief overview of our research products. As an organisation still developing our research approach, these are subject to change as we learn about how the content we develop is best articulated and shared to maximize the value of our work for those engaged in this important work. ## Analytic memo A brief description of a topic of interest, providing an overview, key background material, a discussion of key points, and recommendations (if applicable). This is the most flexible of our formats intented to document work being done into a readable format for team internal and external stakeholders to understand essential points in a key area of reflection. ## Preliminary investigation Modeled on Open Philanthropy's [Shallow Investigation model](https://www.openphilanthropy.org/research/cause-selection#Shallow_investigations), this is intended as a quick survey of the field to identify in broad strokes the important ideas, opportunities, and challenges as a way to inform future work. These are intentionally incomplete, assessing the importance of pursuing deeper work on the topic and the necessary steps to do so. ## Deeper investigation This is our formal report that is intended to be a comprehensive survey of a topic drawn from available sources (interviews, original research, peer-reviewed literature, etc.). It is intended to encapuslate all the available learning and provide solid evidence for the recommended course(s) of action. --- ## See also * Archived copy of this page (via the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine): https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://hackmd.io/@investinopen/research-products --- This page first published: 2022-05-11 ###### tags: `about-us` `process` ---
This work is made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
