# Overview Tab

## Purpose
To provide basic information and an evaluative framework for assessing the alignment with key values of openness, transparency, governance, diversity, inclusion, and community engagement across all services included in the catalog.
## Elements
* **Service Summary** - A brief description submitted by the provider describing the service *(provided by the service)*
* **Transformative Influence** - An evaluative framework on the alignment on key elements of openness, accountability, and transparency in operations, governance, service delivery. For each element, the organization is rated with a "**Yes**", "**No**", or "**Partial**". Whenever possible, the supporting documentation is linked to the rating. For more on the philosophical grounding for transformative influence, please see our discussion below. *(evaluated based on information provided by the service)*
* **Open code repository** - Does the service have the code for their service available under an [open license](https://opensource.org/licenses) in an online repository?
* **Open data statement** - Does the organization have a statement regarding the use and availability of their data for users of the service that allows the data to be accessed to the extent possible?
* **Technical user documentation** - Does the organization have documentation that meaningfully describes the process users to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the code for running the service? In the case of those services not reliant on client installs, is there documentation that meaningfully describes how users perform tasks on the platform to utilise the service?
* **Governance structure and processes** - Is the organization's governance structure clearly documented on their website, indicating how decisions are made and implemented and who is making the governance decisions in the organization?
* **Governance activities** - Is the organization's governance activities meaningful communicated in public documents available on their website, including meeting minutes, board reports, and other communications from those charged with the governance of the organization?
* **Web accessibility statement** - Is there a statement describing the organization's commitment and actions to making their sites accessible to all users regardless of their abilities?
* **Transparent pricing & cost expectations** - Does the organization publish their prices and fees in a way that allows users to meaningfully evaluate the costs associated with using their service?
* **Commitment to equity and inclusion** - Does the organization have a clear statement on diversity, equity, and inclusion with clear initiatives, programs, or other activities aimed at measuring and increasing the diversity of their users, community members, and other key stakeholders?
* **Community Engagement** - An evaluative framework for how services engage with community members. For more on the philosophical grounding for community engagement, please see our discussion below. For each element, the organization is rated with a "**Yes**" or "**No**". Whenever possible, the supporting documentation is linked in the description. *(evaluated based on information provided by the service)*
* **Organizational Commitment** - Is there not only. stated interest but available resources for engaging with the community in a meaningful way?
* **Community Governance** - Is there an existing structure governing the organization's interaction with community members?
* **User Contribution Pathways** - Are there meaningful ways in which users can contribute to the work of the organization?
* **Researcher Comment** - A clarifying statement on the data provided to explain elements of the collection, analysis, and/or display of the available information *(provided by the IOI research team if necessary)*
