# ๐Ÿ›ŸMarina / Umbilical Station Marina Station is a Space Station 13 map for [The Blue Moon Club](https://github.com/Floofies/NovaSector), which is a fork of [Nova Sector](https://github.com/NovaSector/NovaSector). Marina Station is owned by **Starway Transit**: ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r1lG6R-elx.png) The station is designed like a modern-day airport, but in space, and is constructed as an array of long docking arms which connect to various spacecraft. The map loads custom jobs, and separates Nanotrasen employees from Marina employees. Nanotrasen crews spawn on each of their respective ships, and Marina employees spawn in their departments on the station. Many sections of the station are complimentary to all guests, allowing them to wait and rest at their leisure. There are also many non-complimentrary sections which require prior payment or negotiation from the visitor, which includes resturants, travel shops, and access to staff facilities. # Map Design Elements The station is intended to service the needs of visiting spacecraft and their crews, but is very minimal in every other regard. The modularity of each segment of the station should be apparent in both their visual design and in the way they are connected. For instance one module should not connect to another module, instead they should connect to some other central component (like a hallway) which is specifically designed to connect modules. ## Long & Slender Hallways The hallways are functional, and are meant only to get you from one place to another, whereas places to sit/relax/eat are instead more discretely designated destinations which the hallways connect to. ## Many Docking Arms The docking arms are very functional, but also appear to be able to fold up. The docking arms appear to swivel around a central axis or two, and can fold into a stowed position to allow for larger ships to dock. ## Central Axes The swiveling design of the docking arms and hallways is apparent in the ways they segment and connect. There are one or more "central axis" segments which appear to connect each seperate section together, and evoke a sense of movement. ## Departments Moved to Spaceships ### Ships Owned by Nanotrasen - **NTPS "Kuwait" Passenger Ship** (Interdyne, Talone Industrial, Nanotrasen) - **NTSS "Blue Moon" Science-Exploration Vessel** - Frontier exploration ship. - Contains a MedBay, Brig, Science, Robotics, Circuitlab, Vault, and AI Core. - **NTDS "Hedon" Diplomatic Ship** - A cruise ship for partying and recreation. - **??? Unnamed Science Ship** - Xenobiology, Cytology, and Virology. ### Other Ships - **GHCF "Acazel" Gaius Hunter Coalition Frigate** (Gaian) - Missionary ship for Chaplains. - **SEV "Crimson" Science & Exploration Vessel** (Independent) - Exploration ship for spacers and miners. ## Retained Departments The station is akin to an "umbilical cord system" which connects ships and their inhabitants to a central support system, and its overall design reflects this. - **Botany:** - Reduced in size and relegated to the commissary/kitchen as non-public. - The Chef is the new owner of the room, but Botanists still have access to it. - Botanist spawns and lockers are relocated to the Garden. - **Cargo:** - Increases in size and utilizes its allocated space more effectively. - **Mesocosm / Garden:** - Converted to a set of public "hydroponics modules" attached to a mesocosm entrance. - **Medical Clinic & Medical Supply Shop:** - Reduced to a small but well-equipped clinic, and a separated supply store. - A full pharmacy is attached, where many vital medications are pre-stocked. - Roboticists have full access to Medical, as if they are medical staff. - **Engineering & Robotics Shops:** - **[Reduced to a small machine/technology shop with a lavish storefront.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYvxKFJXoMc)** - Inherits all contents of the removed Science department. - The operating room is removed, and Roboticists gain full access to Medical instead. - **Station Security:** - Reduced to *security stations* who work alongside the port authority. - Lockers and equipment are relocated to a new central security breakroom. - Department Guards have full access to the breakroom and most equipment. - Department guard offices are removed. - Department Guards are consolidated with Security in general. - Guard spawns and lockers are relocated to a central security breakroom. # Station Facilities ## โ˜ข๏ธ Inflatable Engineering Core The core of the marina is an inflatable pre-fabricated set of modules for generating electrical power, and maintaining life support. The core is centrally located and acts as a structural element that links the rest of the station together. There are several smaller inflatable modules attached to the core which contain areas for workshops, building things, storage, and system control rooms. ## ๐Ÿ‘ฎ Master Control Room A master flight control room replaces the bridge, and it is connected centrally between many of the docking arms. The control room extends outwards to provide a wide field of view over the whole facility. It is equivalent to a traditional "bridge", except far more optimized for direct station support. ## โš™๏ธ Resource Supply & Waste Lines Each docking arm contains a very sophisticated system for connecting to a spacecraft, sending gas, power, and water, and receiving waste. Each docking arm may transmit resources to connected spacecraft: - **Airmix gas** (Maximum of 4500kPa. Composed of 20% Oxygen, 80% Nitrogen). - **Pure gas** (Maximum of 4500kPa. Configurable pure Oxygen, Nitrogen, CO2, or Plasma). - **Electricity** (Maximum of 200kW. Regulated by magnetic energy storage or batteries). - **Water** Each docking arm may recieve waste from connected spacecraft: - **Waste gas** (Suction to station gas recyclers) - **Pneumatic trash disposal** ## โšก Self-Recharging Electrical System The station has two large solar panel arrays which extend beyond the docking arms, and each array must have a clear line-of-sight in a 180 degree angle in order to translate panels towards incoming starlight. Incoming solar-generated power is immediately stored in batteries and then re-transmitted to a central power distribution room which contains additional batteries. The power distribution system located in the central room regulates the flow of electricity to each ship such that they don't overload the station's own powernet. Upon detecting powernet overloading, a turbo-electric COGES generator (combined gas-electric and steam) automatically starts in order to delay disaster. The COGES system generates electricity via two electromagnetic generators which are spun by a gas turbine, and a secondary steam turbine connected to the gas turbine's heat-recovery boiler. ## ๐Ÿšง Service Ducts & Jefferies Tubes The maintenance access tunnels are implemented as uniquely labeled "Jefferies tubes". Jefferies tubes are small and narrow, and extend in straight lines without any curvature. The tubes are designed only to allow direct access to station systems and nothing else. During an emergency in which the station's structural integrity is compromised, they are open to all personnel in order to allow movement around the station. ## ๐Ÿš’ Muster Stations Designated meeting and storage areas are used to mitigate disasters such as decompression, meteors, and other threats to structural integrity. The muster stations contain equipment vital for sustaining life in the event that the station's life support system fails, and also contain equipment which can be used for reconstruction. In the event of a catastrophe, on-board visitors can meet at a nearby muster station to equip pressure suits, oxygen tanks, and other life-saving equipment. Whereas on-board shipmaster staff may utilize the additional equipment intended for reconstruction. ## ๐Ÿ’ค Microtels & Sleeping Cabins Accommodations are provided: Luxurious **micro hotels** and tiny **sleeping cabins**. The sleeping cabins are complimentary to all on-board personnel, however the hotels are not. The "microtels" are luxurious when compared to the cabins, and each one contains a microwave, a full bathroom, and a small closet. While extremely small, the sleeping cabins have nice air conditioning. It is impossible to suffocate from lack of oxygen while inside one of the cabins, despite how small they are (and we'll ensure this via code/mapping changes). ## ๐Ÿธ Marina SkyLounge The station has a special central lounge which is complimentary to all, however there are also VIP-only rooms which can be unlocked by the operating service staff or a shipmaster. The lounge provides a luxurious view over much of the facility, although not as wide-angle as the control room provides. Within the lounge there are many seating areas and a snack bar.
