# Sunset Nouns 95 ## TL;DR Requesting 9.5 eth as retro + continued development of Nouns 95 by Macrohard to pivot into NounsOS by Berry, pursue other grant + competitive funding sources, and not get sued by Elon's new Macrohard company. --- [![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/HyxBAxihxg.png)](https://youtu.be/VdwEABkFIqE) *Our commercial illustrated by Nadiecito.* --- Nouns 95 is an operating system in the browser built by Macrohard as an expermiental art meme for Nounish laptop/ desktop power users. Launched 8 months ago in February 2025, the OS has seen consistent usage with increasing retention. ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SklkUd53xx.png) ![image](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SyuGnYjnxx.png) Nouns 95 combines the functionality of a suite of Nouns tooling into a single domain. Our goal is to become the go to hub for web3 on laptop screens. Since Elon recently launched his own Macrohard company, we see it becoming impossible to continue operating as Macrohard. We view this as an opportunity to sunset the Macrohard Nouns 95 design and launch Nouns OS by Berry. --- ## The OS Experience Nouns 95 replicates the Windows 95 operating system's Windows functionality in Typescript using a Zustand-based singleton system. Users can open as many windows as they'd like, the system will manage their position, Z-index, and focus automatically. The Taskbar & Start Menu provide further utility for multi-App use. Apps are written with Tyescript components using CSS modules. Apps can be nearly infintely complex in their functions, and contained simply within the windows system with 2 top-level CSS modules. A single App Config file mediates between the two layers, making the addition of new Programs simple. ### Nouns OS by Berry Nouns OS will take the core learnings of Nouns 95 by Nacrohard into a more refined design space by emulating Mac OS 8. Along side the release of Nouns OS 1.0, we will develop contributor guidelines for App developers to launch their own programs in Nouns OS via the repo. --- *Nouns 95 & Berr OS are fully open-source under a WTFPL licenses.
