## ExtraHash: Interview
#### Thanks for taking the time for this interview ExtraHash. Let's start with something easy. What motivated you to enter the TurtleCoin hackathon?
Well, I saw the announcement and it seemed like a cool way to create something new and showcase my abilties. The prize money didn't hurt, either!
#### Tell us a bit about the transaction mempool visualization web application that you submitted. Why did you select this for your project? Did you learn anything throughout the process?
I had been interested in messing around with a 3d webgl framework for a while. When the hackathon was announced, I immediately knew I was going to a mempool visualization using the TurtleCoind API. I had seen some similar visualizations with Bitcoin; but there wasn't anything out there for TurtleCoin as of yet. So, this was the perfect opportunity to get familiar with webgl and create a cool entry at the same time.
Along the way, I learned quite a bit about the framework I selected, which is babylonjs, as well as the physics engine I'm using, oimojs. These are some pretty cool tools that I've only just started to scratch the surface with on this visualization, but it was a good start.
#### Sounds like you learned a lot as you went through building the project. What were some of the challenges you encountered as you developed the application?
I had some trouble with the HTML5 audio API at first and how to get sounds playing based on object collisions. The way I finally figured out isn't perfect but it does work. If I had a little more time to develop I would have liked to improve my use of sound effects.
#### I'm glad you worked your way through it. As with anything, a bit more time helps to really make things shine. With so many things to do within the TurtleCoin community, what do you see yourself working on or learning next?
I've been working on getting more familiar with C++ so I can start to make more significant contributions to the core codebase; aside from maintaining Proton and adding a new feature or two here and there, that's my main priority.
#### As you know, we're always happy to have more people working on core code so any help you can provide is appreciated. Is there anything you'd like the community to know about you, what you may need help with, or how you might be able to help others?
As always, feedback on anything I've created is helpful, so feel free to put in bug reports / feature request for Proton Wallet or anything else I've pushed out. In addition, I've become pretty decent at developing with React, so if anybody has a React project they need help with, give me a shout!
#### Excellent. We're glad to have you as part of the community! Keep up the good work and good luck with your entry to the hackathon!
Thanks for the interview, and good luck to all the contestants!
