This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and process your information when you install and use the Extension. The development team takes user privacy extremely seriously. **The core design principle of this Extension is that all data processing (including fetching, storing, and rendering data) occurs entirely locally within your browser. We DO NOT transmit any of your data to any external servers.** ## 1. Information Collection To fulfill its "Single Purpose" of displaying Threads content disguised as a Notion interface in the Side Panel, the Extension accesses or processes the following types of data **strictly locally on your device**: * **Web Content Data:** To display your feed in the Side Panel, the Extension interacts with your active `threads.net` tabs using the `scripting` permission. It reads the public or logged-in DOM structure and post content from that page. * **User Preferences:** The Extension uses the `storage` permission to remember your customized settings, including: * Dark/Light mode theme selection. * Auto-refresh frequency settings. * Custom disguised titles for the panel. * The toggle state of "Panic Mode" and shortcut preferences. ## 2. Information Usage The data collected locally is used exclusively for the following purposes: * **Providing Core Functionality:** To fetch, render, and display real-time social updates from Threads within your Chrome Side Panel in real-time. * **Interface Personalization:** To apply your preferences (e.g., theme, disguised title text) to ensure your privacy and desired user experience are maintained every time you open the panel. ## 3. Information Sharing & Disclosure **We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any of your information.** Because no information is transmitted to any developer-controlled servers, all necessary data exchanges happen solely between your device and the original Threads servers. Stealthreads does not contain analytics tracking tools (e.g., Google Analytics), embeds no third-party ad trackers, and has no telemetry mechanisms. ## 4. Data Security & Retention * **Local Storage:** Your personal configurations are stored securely on your hard drive using Chrome's native storage APIs (`chrome.storage.local` or `chrome.storage.sync`). * **Ephemeral Data:** The post content fetched from Threads is only held in the Side Panel's memory to be displayed. Once the Side Panel is closed or refreshed, this cached content is cleared. We do not permanently log or store your timeline or reading history. ## 5. Permissions Explained To ensure the Extension functions correctly, we declare the following core permissions, which are strictly limited to their minimum required scope: * `sidePanel`: Required to pin and display the Threads interface permanently inside the browser's side panel. * `storage`: Required to save your local theme and feature settings securely. * `scripting` & `tabs`: Required to locate your active Threads tabs and securely inject scripts to read the latest updates. * `alarms`: Required to trigger periodic background content updates based on your set intervals. * `host permissions (https://*.threads.net/*)`: We strictly limit our access only to the official Threads domain, ensuring no access to your other browsing history. ## 6. User Rights Since the Extension does not send data to any developer servers, you have full control over your data. If you wish to delete the data stored by this Extension, you simply need to: 1. Uninstall or remove the Stealthreads extension, or 2. Clear the Extension's local storage data within your Chrome browser settings. ## 7.
