# Charter Meetup Lagos Remoters

**This document is the guide to organizing, joining, attending and serving the bi-weekly Lagos Remoters Meetup. The meetup is not-for-profit.**

It's aimed at visitors of meetups, organisers being the host of a next meetup, and the serving venue.

If you forgot about how it should work, look through the charter below for the specific role you're in, plus the information about the venue at hand.

The location is variable.

> From March we can also use The Collab as a venue, they are now also open on Tuesdays. To be checked with Nathan.

> Mind you we're not organising meetups in July and August!

Welcome to our bi-weekly Tuesday meetup! This evening is intended for Lagos area residents, remote workers, digital nomads and people just dropping by in Lagos to meet other freedom minded spirits! The idea is to meet new people and connect with those you already know.

### What do we mean?

venue : the location where the meetup is held

host : the roulating organiser of the meetup who is also the host of the evening and the single point of contact for the venue chief.

chief : the single point to make arrangements with at the venue. The chief could also have the role of main servant.

meetup : from 7 to 10PM, last round at 9:30 PM

sponsor : | TBW |

social media channels: Whatsapp, Meetup.com, Eventbrite

main servant : the waiter to serve drinks and accept cash payments upfront. The main servant could also have the role of chief.

## Visitors

Join us this evening from 7 to 10PM at the venue to have a fun evening!

Registration is not needed. Attendance is free, you just pay for your own drinks or food. Payment is in cash. Per venue the location of ATMs are pointed out.

> Please:
> 1. bring cash and pay right when ordering
> 2. stay in the Meetup zone, don't block entrances and menu displays, don't put your bum in the face of other customers having a drink or dinner
> 3. don't be too loud

## Communication

### Suggested communications
- 7 days before: announce event in meetup app
- 6 days before: announce in approved whatsapp groups
- 5 days till day before: invite friends
- day itself before 12:00: reminder in whatsapp groups

### Suggestions to announce and report
7 or 6 days in advance: Post a picture (Canva) with info of the meetup (date, time, venue) in the whatsapp groups: Lagos remoters no ads (this is checked with the admin) and Lagos ads and promos (also checked with admin). Include the meetuplink to the event.

7 or 6 days in advance: Start inviting friends through whatsapp and ask them to invite other friends as well
> Check if it is possible to 'announce' the event in the meetup app

1 day before the meetup: Send a short and sweet reminder in the 2 whatsapp groups mentioned above.

Day of the event: Write a comment in the meetup app to welcome and remind everybody of the meetup

Day after the event: Post the fotos in the meetup app and share in the Lagos remoters no ads group
> (not sure if we should do that after every meetup, maybe just in the beginning)

### South-West Bistro

There are three zones in this restaurant:
1. Inside restaurant area (mostly with doors open)
2. Outside terrace restaurant area
3. Meetup area

We gather in *zone 3*, **outside** of the restaurant terrace with chairs and tables.

> Please do not block the entrance of the restaurant nor the menu-display!

Zone 3 is perfect for a meetup. It has standing tables and a few stools. There is some protection from the wind, and heaters.

Zone 1 and 2 can be entered and used for dinner or a bite after reservering a table upfront or at the bar while the meetup is going. There is protection from the wind, and a heater :)

> Please do not commute and /or communicate loudly from zone 2 to zone 3 and vice versa. If you are happy to see people again after some time. Invite them over from the restaurant to Meetup area. There are also other customers of the bistro that would like to have a quiet dinner.

#### ATM South-West
There are ATMs on the ground floor.

#### Chief and servants venue

1. Accept cash payment upfront of - or right after delivering drinks and bites. Do not accept tabs.
2. Be sure to keep up accepting orders with the demand. We do not want people to go to the bar inside the restaurant because they haven't been able to order swiftly enough in zone 3
3. Discusses issues with the host.

#### Meet Hugo

Hugo isn’t just the boss, he’s the heart of Southwest Bistro. With 20 years of culinary experience, he’s a master at creating dishes that create the wow factor. But great food isn’t his only priority – he’s dedicated to making sure every visitor has an outstanding experience.
Hugo has a long time experience in receiving our type of Meetups at his venue; it used to be the Digital Nomads Meetup. The rules we've set up together with him ensure a balanced experience for visitors of the meetup and his other dining visitors at the restaurant.

## Organizer

1. Checks all social media channels for the right info and checks questions
2. Creates the banner with the right date & location & time
3. Posts the banner in social media channels including links (to this charter and/or other social media channels). Officially announce the meetup and optionally mention the location and its owner.

### Day of the meetup
4. Is present at the venue 15 minutes before the start of the meetup
5. Says hello to new guests (that haven't been to the meetup before)
6. Discusses issues with servant and chief
7. Takes some photographs after having ask permission from the people on the photo.

### The day after

8. Post some photos on social media channels and writes an impression of the night held.
9. Hands over the meetup to the next host
10. In case of a new location for the next meetup, add to all social media and flyers:
- google pin
- address & telephone & e-mail address
- meet {the chief}
- ATM location
- parking options
