Hence in this series on the life of King David, ... * By Hasyth A., Sri Lanka - This is a poem I wrote about God's love for me and the stages of life I have experienced. My father had an important position in a large company and my mother worked as an army nurse. We led a carefree existence in a neighborhood away from civilization. * For the longest time, a good friend of mine has been seeking the truth and trying to make sense of life. And for many years, I have been trying to introduce Christ to him. It was May 1998, and riots broke out in my city, Jakarta in Indonesia. They were triggered by economic problems including food shortages and mass unemployment. * I used to consider traveling and its accompanying "find yourself" mantra overrated. I'm consumed with panic when I meet someone new at school and simply forget how to start a conversation. * When I was 16, everything in life was going well. Not finding a job after graduation felt like a form of failure. * I still remember the day my best friend and I were hanging out, complaining about dating and boys and life in general, when we decided we were going to do it: download a dating app. * There are quite a few obstacles I've had to overcome in my 23 years of life so far. But each obstacle has only made me stronger. One obstacle in particular was something I never thought I would get through. * What is life but: Strolling, trotting, jogging, racing, / Talking, laughing, sighing, crying, / Schooling, working, loving, bearing, / Caring, tearing, daring, sharing, * While having lunch with a girl friend one day, we touched on our favorite topic as single girls: relationships. Contrary to what many romantic drama serials and movies portray, the life of a single professional woman (especially if she is a Christian) is far from one of romance and constant social activity. * I used to be a very ambitious person. In college, I enjoyed life and worked hard to get what I wanted - especially when it came to grades. I wanted to be the top student so that others would look up to me. This came at the expense of everything else: God, family, and friends. * Relationships. Many of us, myself included, crave to be in one. There was a time in my life when I was head over heels with this guy, whom I shall refer to as Andy. * Although I was born into a Christian family and lived in a majority-Christian city, my life wasn't easy. Like most young people, I struggled with many problems, especially the search for a personal identity. * I spent six months of my life as a couch potato. By the time I started my new job, I knew which online channels you could surf for the latest television series. * Life is like a Jenga set. There is a fixed number of time blocks to each day. 24 hours to be exact, 1440 minutes in detail. Nothing more. Nothing less. * I've not been a good friend to some of my closest friends. I've betrayed one, angered another, and offended a third (twice). I betrayed the first by cutting him out of my life because of someone else (long story). * "My biggest mistake in life is marrying you!" Since I was in kindergarten, I would often hear my parents hurl that statement at each other; they fought right before our eyes. * Written by Christie Frieg, USA "The map says it'll take me 15 minutes to get there? Challenge accepted. I can do it in five." (Oh wait, I forgot about stuff like traffic lights and speed limits. Now I'm late.) Living my life on the edge has brought me a lot of anxiety. I'm usually late, ... * When I first started college, I happily charted out four years' worth of classes. I was excited about what life would bring. Sure, I had to tweak my plans every semester or so, but I always had a plan, and things always worked out. Then I graduated, and suddenly, I had no plan. Studying history ... * Written By Joanne S. Dionela, Philippines I am 33 years old, unmarried, with no kids. I used to think that singleness is the stage of life that one should get past as quickly as possible, because it is the "most miserable" period of a person's existence on earth. Societal pressure is real and the question ... * I was in the midst of my undergraduate studies when my first dating relationship ended. It was a tough period in my life as I thought I had found my future husband - it was this individual who shared the gospel with me and led me to Christ. But it was not meant to be; he was ... * So I finally got off my couch and got a job. For someone who has spent his entire life thus far doing nothing beyond cramming ten year series' answers for exams, stepping into the working world for the first time is indeed a cause for excitement. Beyond the anticipation of finally being truly "independent" and the ... * Any single lady will eventually come to a point in life where she questions whether the guy she is dating is the one she wants as her life partner. * With the trials and sufferings that life throws at us, facing these hurdles often makes dealing with life itself wearisome. Whether they are bearable or devastating, * The recent media attention on Robin Williams' suicide started me thinking about how having a seemingly unquenchable void or desire in one's life can be so devastating. * Like the Teacher, I'm sure that we, at some point in time, have found life meaningless too. We have tried to make sense of the way this world works, * By Phoebe Khor, Malaysia Have you ever thought about what is life all about? You came into this earth as a baby. As you grow up, you acquire knowledge and you study hard. You try to get good grades, so that you could enter a good university. After studying, you hope to get a good ... * Many things that happen in our life are just beyond our finite human minds. This happens so often that quotes like "you win some, you lose some" and "life's like that" become mere excuses for being blatantly obtuse. Death is just one of the many topics that receive such "preferential" treatment. People would make every ... * By Julian Abraham Chua, Singapore Death is often associated with the idea of losing. It is especially harder to swallow when it occurs to someone who passes on at a young age. From the perception of the living, it is often a waste to go so young when life has just begun.
