The excitement centers around *community*! Community increaes trust and perceived emotional and functional value. Types of participants in community participation/contributon: (1) developers, (2) mentors, and (3) active consumers.
Interestingly, venture capital managers and marketing specialists can provide valuable input based on their intrinsic mativation.
Participants in the community can help the company by
- decreasing risk of product failure
- competitor analysis
- feedback from product testing
- reducing R&D costs (with product innovations)
- digital marketing
- providing a talent pool with track record for recruiting
