Outlook crashing mid-way frustrates and wastes the precious time of the day. It usually crashes because of a large mailbox, add-in conflicts, an outdated version, or corrupted PST/OST files. What should be done when something like this happens?

Try any of these fixes to resolve Outlook freezing or crashing issues:

## Disable Add-ins

* Open the Outlook app.
* Go to File > Options.
* Click Add-ins.
* Choose COM Add-ins > Go.
* Uncheck all add-ins, and click OK.
* Restart Outlook.

## Install the Latest Updates

* On Outlook, go to File > Office Account.
* Click “Update Options.”
* Choose “Update Now.”
* Once the update is installed, restart Outlook.

If you need to update your Windows, follow the instructions below:

* On your PC, press the Windows + I keys to open Settings.
* Select “Windows Update.”
* Click on “Check for updates.”
* Install any available updates.
* Once the installation is finished, restart your PC.

## Repair Office

* Press the Windows + R keys.
* Type the code: appwiz.cpl in the given field and press Enter.
* Find Microsoft 365 or Microsoft Office in the list.
* Right-click on it and select “Change.”
* Click on “Quick Repair.” If it does not work, choose “Online Repair.”
* Click on Repair.
* Wait for it to complete, then restart the computer.

## Create a New Outlook Profile

If no fixes work, then the last resort left is creating a fresh Outlook profile:

* Close the Outlook application.
* Press the Windows button.
* Search for and open the Control Panel.
* Search Microsoft Outlook, then select Show Profiles from the Mail Setup dialog box.
* Click on Add to create a new profile if the current one is corrupted.
* Enter a new profile name, then click on the “OK” button.
* Add your account details and complete the setup.
* Select “Always use this profile,” then click on the new profile.
* Open Outlook and test it.
