# ✍️ Assignment: Cold call your leads (old example)
Let the magic begin!
Let's recap. By now you've...
- Created a list of leads that match the ICP and ICB
- Learnt how to structure and conduct a cold call
- Produced a cold call script to follow
- Blocked time in your calendar
- Evaluated the most common objections and are ready to overcome them
You're now ready to jump right in and start calling your leads. Time to practice!
## The assignment
:::info
- [ ] Cold call at least 25 of your researched leads AND
- [ ] Have at least 5 qualified conversations.
:::
Qualified conversations are those that actually included a dialogue with the person you want to reach** . Talking to the gatekeeper only or not reaching a lead does not count.
Remember, your goal for this module is to schedule at least 2 discovery calls. You may not get any from this first round of cold calls and that's completely fine. This is just to get started.
Once you're done, we will move on to cold emailing and social selling before combining all channels. :+1:
## Keep the goal in mind
Once again, remember the 3 goals of your call are:
:::info
- Does the person have a pain you can help address with your product/service?
- Are they the right person to talk to?
- Schedule a qualified sales conversation - a "discovery call" - to progress to the next stage in the sales process
:::
A few tips to consider:
- Stick to your script and learn from it. Iterate and modify it as you go.
- Engage your lead fast (by asking a question).
- Be ready to handle objections and get past gatekeepers.
- Remember to ideally fix a scheduled time for a discovery call at the end of your cold call while you still got your lead on the phone.
- Please be 100% disciplined about doing your cold calls. No shortcuts. This is one of the most important skills to develop and a key element of our program.
😱 **We know it's scary.**
The fear of rejection is completely normal and happens to all of us. Treat this as practice - there's nothing to lose! Dive right in, pick up the phone, and dial. See what happens. Learn from the experience, then dial again. It will become easier and easier ;)
A no really does bring you closer to the next yes, and that the person you are talking to never makes a personal judgment about you as a person. In the end, you are trying to help them solve a pain they have.

**📲 Happy calling!**
:::info
To help you evaluate how you performed during a cold call, we created a checklist. Self-assessment allows you to participate actively in your own evaluation. Being involved allows you to honestly assess your strengths and areas for improvement.

## 🤔 What’s next?
1. Open your CRM.
2. Make sure you have at least 25 leads that are "ready to call" (review lesson "[Do your research](https://hyriseacademy.talentlms.com/unit/view/id:4413)" for reference).
3. Call these leads.
4. Once you've performed your first round of cold calls, please inform your coach so we can review your calls for feedback.

**Tip:** Organize your cold calling sessions with calling lists in Hubspot. Watch the video on how it's done.
