# Introduction to cold emails
Now that you've had your first encounter with cold calling, it's time to move onto the next prospecting technique - cold emails!
The principles you'll learn in this section apply to any kind of first cold message outreach through any channel (LinkedIn, Twitter, or any other platform). Nevertheless, for the purpose of this section, we will focus specifically on the main outbound communication channel - emails.
Before going into specifics as to how we go about messaging or emailing prospects via any kind of platform or channel, there are a couple of fundamentals to bear in mind.
Please remember before any kind of outbound focused communication that you always ask yourself these 4 questions:

**Questions to ask yourself before sending any cold message**
1. ***Who* do you want to reach?**
Research them and identify their main current pain points.
2. ***What* kind of message do you want to convey?**
How can you provide a specific solution to a specific problem they have right now? Narrow it down and be specific.
3. ***Why* now and what value do you provide?**
Make sure you answer these two questions
- why should they care now?
- What is the core value you provide?
4. **If I were the person receiving this message, would I be interested?**
:::
These questions will help you empathize with whoever you're getting in contact and carefully craft a message that engages them. Doing this already helps you to stand out from the crowd and write better messages and emails than 80% of all salespeople out there.
If we could tell you one single piece of advice for cold emailing?

⭐ **Personalize your message!**
:::
Even if you're using a bot - make sure it looks like a personal message.
Please, PLEASE, never write a generalist, one-size-fits-all email that starts and ends with how great your company and your product are. Remember, it is never about you, but about the value you can provide to your future dream customer.
They will never work!
Now that we know the basic principles, let's see how to structure your emails 👇
