# Buyer personas
Another important concept you'll come across regularly is buyer personas.

:bulb: A buyer persona is a detailed description of someone who represents your target audience. This is not a real customer, but a fictional person who embodies the characteristics of your best potential customers.

## Why are they important?
Your buyer personas are the segment from the population that your product provides the most value to, and are therefore most likely to convert. You will use these fictional representations when deciding which leads to target, and what to say to them.
It's important to always keep your buyer persona in mind when you're interacting with them, and adapt your message and sales approach accordingly.
For now, we just want you to get a general idea of what a buyer persona is. We will dive deeper into them in stage 2.
