# How sales teams are structured
The following video dives a little deeper into different ways way to structure a sales organization.
We don't want you to remember specifics, the key point to remember here is: you will find different ways a sales team is organized and structured.
Based on what market a company is in, the nature of their product or service, and several other factors, sales teams may look differently in each company.
- Outbound-focused organizations usually have more SDRs / BDRs than companies generating lots of inbound leads (as they need to generate outbound leads).
- Inbound-focused companies may not work with SDRs at all, but with AEs that cover the entire spectrum of sales activities (from lead generation to closing).
Not every tech organization is created equal 🙂
So, when you interview for a job, it is important to also ask for the sales team's structure and what your specific role and responsibility will be within that.
::: warning
p.s. "ARR" means "Annual Recurring Revenue" i.e. how much a company makes per year.
