--- tags: A2, Prospecting, Assignment --- # ✍️ Assignment: Cold call your leads Let the magic begin! Let's recap. By now you should have... ✅ Created a list of leads that match the ICP and ICB ✅ Learnt how to structure and conduct a cold call ✅ Produced a cold call script to follow ✅ Evaluated the most common objections and are ready to overcome them ✅ Blocked time in your calendar You guessed it - we're now going to ask you to start making some calls. ## The assignment :::info - [ ] Cold call at least 25 leads AND - [ ] Have at least 5 qualified conversations. ::: :::warning *⚠️ **Qualified conversations are those that actually included a dialogue with the person you want to reach.** Talking to the gatekeeper only or not reaching a lead does not count.* ::: Before you begin, let's get you set up 👇 ## Setting up for your cold calls ### 1. Download our checklist Having a checklist next to you is the best way to ensure you've done all the necessary prep work before the call, and will allow you to reflect on how it went right after. We recommend you have a copy of the checklist with you next to your script during the cold calls and reflect on how it went after every call. Prepare your lead list By now, your lead list should be ready to call. **It's crucial that can dial leads one after the other and take notes easily without distractions.** You don't want to get distracted by having to jump from one screen to another. Some sales reps do that directly on their CRM, others do it using a spreadsheet file with leads they want to call during the upcomining cold calling blocker. This will depend on each salesperson and company - what is important is that you find a set up that allows you to call without distractions. In case your CRM does NOT offer an easy overview of all reads relevant for one calling session, we recommend you work with a spreadsheet. Keep the goal in mind When you're nervous, it´s easy to get lost as to what you are trying to achieve in a cold call. This is the easiest way for something to go wrong. Stay laser focused and remember your objective at all times. Repeat these to yourself before jumping on the call 👇 :::info **Objectives for a cold call** - [x] Does the person have a pain you can help address with your product/service? - [x] Are they the right person to talk to? - [x] Schedule a qualified sales conversation - a "discovery call" - to progress to the next stage in the sales process ::: ### 4. Don't think - ACT. Jump straight to it. 😱 **We know it's scary.** The fear of rejection is completely normal and happens to all of us. Treat this as practice - there's nothing to lose! Dive right in, pick up the phone, and dial. See what happens. Learn from the experience, then dial again. It will become easier and easier ;) A no really does bring you closer to the next yes, and that the person you are talking to never makes a personal judgment about you as a person. In the end, you are trying to help them solve a pain they have. Need some encouragement and final inspiration?
