# Why you need a cold call script (and how to build one)
Now that you know the fundamentals of cold calling, it's time to build your script.
- Wait, why do we need a script? Doesn't this sound too mechanic and non-authentic?
- No, it doesn't - not if you do it right!
The reason you need a sales script lies in the nature of cold calling. Especially those of you totally new to sales will first need to overcome natural resistance to call someone "cold".
A sales script helps you to not get thrown off and be more confident by knowing what you are going to say and by having prepared for all contingencies. It's up to you to make it sound natural by following the script with the right tonality and speed.
Listen to Dom explaining why you need a script and how you go about writing and working with one.
