# Common mistakes in a virtual call
Jeff gives a nice recap of common mistakes done in the virtual call environment:
- Winging it (we are confident you know the importance of proper preparation by now ;)). Have a clear agenda and idea of what you want to accomplish in the demo
- Poor tactical setting (bad lighting, poor sound quality)
- Low emotional altitude (meaning your prospect isn't engaged because the energy dips down)
- Making the conversation one-sided (you do too much of the talking. Make sure you don't talk more than 30-60 seconds at a time)
- Failing to ask for next steps (this could be the sales if the customer is ready or what else is needed to make a decision and to schedule next steps)
