# The cloud revolution

## Pre-cloud
💁 If you were a consumer, it used to be that you had to go to a store and buy the piece of software you had to use and install it in your computer. For example, computer games!

🏛️ If you were a company, it used to be that you needed to invest in a complex and expensive server system inside your offices to provide software services to your clients
 
## Post-cloud
☁️ Simply put, cloud computing is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale.

💻 This means, for example, that consumers can now download and pay for games directly on the internet, and companies can use external servers to build software and offer their services.
