# RT1 Spatial Meeting ## 5th August 2021 10:00 **Participants** **From Previous Weeks** - [ ] Speak with Turing (maybe TPS) RE: a recommended data dictionary while we are in the early stages **Agenda** - [ ] In [this](https://www.aurora.nats.co.uk/htmlAIP/Publications/2021-07-15-AIRAC/html/index-en-GB.html) document - suggested by [name=Ben] in the [GitHub Issue](https://github.com/project-bluebird/ground-control/issues/20) we see a range of sector definitions - are these the same as those in sectors.csv - also what does the "class" mean with respect to differing flight levels in the same sector - is that something that we need to worry about? ## 29th July 2021 10:00 **Participants**: - [name=Helen] - [name=Marc] - [name=Radka] **Agenda:** No agenda made for this week **Notes:** - Flight data: [name=Marc] has been working on the one-day data set and has produced a Jupyter notebook to work in conjunction with the clearances, flight data, and radar information - Aim is to minimise number of libraries called. Currently using pandas, numpy, matplotlib - might add geopandas - File will go to [name=Richard] soon then to REG after it has been okayed. - Two data sets are merged using a NATS-generated UFID that incorporates the date, call sign, and flight plan ID (that can be resused on different days but should be unique on that day) - Potential bug in flight levels and ideal and actual match 100% at the moment - REG can probably ignore VPL (valid prediction lifetimes) data in notebook at the moment - Sector definitions: From image [name=Helen Radka] sent round on Slack - [name=Marc] seems to think these look sensible. Suggests the two outliers (WESTCOAST & MORAY LOW) are Atlantic/oceanic sectors and when plotted on a world map would make sense. - BADA model: Made by eurocontrol, has parameters based on weight, turining circle etc for a range of different aircraft types. - [name=Marc] has briefly looked into license agreements for open-source work such as this. A literature search of comparisons between BADA and other models shows more qualitative than quantitative analysis of agreement. - There is likely a disconnect between ideal (BADA) model and real-world data; for example ascent profiles for same aircraft for EasyJet and BA may be different based on company policy. Hence the need for data-driven models - Visualising Sectors: [name=Radka] has each sector shown on map - would be nice to have 3D version of this or some way to show this nicely on a map - this may require a [game engine](https://github.com/project-bluebird/ground-control/issues/6) as outlined in the GitHub issue #6? - Sector boundaries: Currently REG are using Degrees + (Minutes/60) + (Seconds/3600) to generate sector edges. There are likely some subtle corrections to be made - [name=Marc] believes that there are libraries in previous packages that will perform conversion. - Definitions: London and Prestwick FIR (flight region you are responsible for). "London" is pretty much England and Wales, "Prestwick" is pretty much Scotland and Northern Ireland. **For Next Week** No actions identified **From Previous Weeks** - [ ] Speak with Turing (maybe TPS) RE: a recommended data dictionary while we are in the early stages ## 22nd July 2021 10:00 **Participants**: - [name=Freddy] - [name=Helen] - [name=Marc] **Agenda:** **Notes:** - [name=Marc] Has been working on refactoring Liam's code, keeping the basic functionality and moving some features to an extension model - [name=Marc] One day's worth of data is nearly ready to go, will have associated Jupyter notebook - [name=Marc] Query regarding free access to BADA model for project - [name=Helen] Query regarding what data/notes can be made available on the Project Bluebird GitHub [documentation page](https://project-bluebird.github.io/docs/intro.html). Note only the [Aviary](https://project-bluebird.github.io/docs/reference/aviary.html) section has actual content at the moment - [name=Helen] Managed to run Aviary to generate I, X, Y sectors but scenario failed to load - [name=Freddy] Plans to try generating scenarios in Aviary [documentation here](https://project-bluebird.github.io/docs/reference/aviary.html) - [name=Freddy] Investigating physics of BlueSky **For next week**: - [x] Find out if the BADA model is on GitHub/available to project made [GitHub issue](https://github.com/project-bluebird/ground-control/issues/21) [name=Freddy] has been in contact with [name=Marc] about this. - [x] Produce some sort of "Can we share this" folder where REG can ask NATS ([name=Marc Richard John Ben]) what can and cannot be made open [GitHub issue](https://github.com/project-bluebird/ground-control/issues/20) has been made [name=Ben] has contributed to this RE: sector definitions. - [ ] Speak with Turing (maybe TPS) RE: a recommended data dictionary while we are in the early stages
