# Planetary Senate

The Senate is a once-a-month gathering between social proven leaders that have accepted the role of becoming Proof of Humanity's Delegates and active community members of PoH.
**The purpose of gathering?** Discuss, Propose, and Act on solving the most critical challenges for PoH and $UBI to make an impact.

**How is this carried out?**

Two stages.

**First, advocating PoH and $UBI to power communities** such as the Basic Income Earth Network, the UN’s Main Group for Youth and Infancy, the UN’s Agency for Refugees, The Token Engineering Commons, GitCoin, and other impact organizations within the crypto space and within the local space where our community is present.

This approach requires, three steps:
1. Contacting leaders from these organizations, pitching them PoH & $UBI, and
the benefits that their organizations will have by using the best technology in proof of personhood (fair airdrops, democratic governance, etc).
2. Interviewing them in Discord/YouTube and inviting them to become Planetary
Senators. Previously explaining them the responsibility that it entitles.
3. Onboarding them in the PoH environment. This includes the processes of
Governance (proposal->HIP->voting), Profile registry, Community channels
(Telegrams & Discord walkthroughs), and the Delegation thread.

This approach will require at least:
I) one person or role to create the pitch deck. II) A collectively made list of organizations with names and points of contact to which pitch and invite to interview. III) A person or role that can lead the interviews. IV) A person or role that can facilitate the onboarding session. V) A person or role that can edit the interviews and upload them to YouTube.

Once having at least six national and global key activists as part of PoH’s Delegates we can pass to the next stage.

**Second stage. An incubator of community-based initiatives that solve the challenges the invited organizations are facing in eradicating poverty**. This event will be a **hackathon**, where:
-First, the challenges are presented on live by PoH's Senators in a dynamic session engaging the community (see Figure 3).

-Then, a two-day hackathon starts. At the end of the second day, the community and the Senators will vote for the best projects to incubate.
-Those that win, besides being launched and supported through a HIP post, will get direct support of the fundraising team to connect these projects to financial resources.
-The Senators will function as coaches of these projects, connecting them to the right communities and resources for these to reach their goals.
-Once a month, projects will present their progress and obstacles to the whole community. Senators will provide their feedback on using the solution provided (if applicable), as well as suggestions on how to solve the projects’ roadblocks.
During these monthly gatherings, Senators will also discuss emerging challenges of PoH and $UBI, write proposals to the DAO, and call the community to act on them.

**Why is this important?** The Planetary Senate directly gives the community a real-world challenge where to work and contribute, both locally and digitally, without minding their professional profile.
**The Planetary Senate puts complete focus on developing and contributing on
solutions using PoH and $UBI.**

**Results to the moment:**
The first stage of the Planetary Senate has been piloted successfully. The first Planetary Senate is Hilde Latour, Basic Income Earth Network's Vice Chair.
Sarath Davala, Coordinator of India Network for Basic Income (INBI), also accepted the invitation to participate.
A set of UBI-related blockchain projects were successfully summoned in a monthly call named UBI Blockchain Alliance, led by Hilde Latour. There Hilde, Anna, and Humberto, invited other organizations to become part of Proof of Humanity, build together, and participate in the DAO's decision making.
