# MetaCity
Abstract:
A Massive Multiplayer Cyberphysical Coordination Game for Regenerating the city at a neighborhood scope.
Base game is neighborhood coordination with Quests á la Pokemon Go using MetaGame's approach.
DLCs are modules for planet, people, and capital aligned implementations such as universal basic income, community currencies, regenerative finance, food sovereignity, decentralized internet and energy microgrids, etc.
Picture this:
Your city enters into a game for regenerating the urban commons. Neighborhoods engage in a competition for regenerating and maintaining their common spaces. Those neighborhoods participating gather their residents to register them into the game and together define the desired state they wish to reach.
Then, to reach this desired stated, neighborhoods issue quests open to any resident of the city and even tourists to engage in.
You walk around the city á la Pokemon Go looking for these missions, which at completion reward you with different artifacts, such as XP, Rep tokens, and Skill badges to level up your player experience and open up new missions, in-game and out-game items that enhance your player capabilities, like a bike (out-game item) and health potions (in-game item), and community tokens you trade for both daily-needs on local shops and for services from any of the city cooperatives.
Player details:
Registered residents get a [MyMeta profile](https://my.metagame.wtf/players), verified globally by [ProofofHumanity](http://proofofhumanity.id/) and locally by [BrightID](https://www.brightid.org/). All of them, start receiving both a dollar-based universal basic income and a local implementation of [Circles](https://joincircles.net/) as their community currency.
Once a task within a Quest is completed the player that performed it gets an unverified skill badge that holds evidence of its expertise on the matter. To verify the Skill badge another player needs to upload evidence that the task was done. An example would be: A player is walking at the Caribbean Ave. There, he/she gets a Quest of planting 10 trees. The player gets instructions of going to pick the seeds at the Seed Storage NPC. Then, the player plants the trees at the sites suggested by the app and uploads evidence of each tree planted. Different players get a Validation Quest. This quest involves going to completed quests sites and verify its completion and quality of it. Two randomized Players get the same Validation Quest to avoid conspiracy. At each planted tree they all see that the job was done with great quality and they provide a rating. This rating is aggregated and added to the player's Skill badge metadata. When validating all ten trees the player gets a Validated Skill Badge and the reward promissed by the Quest.
However, if there were the case that a Validator finds out that the last tree was not planted when the player reports that it was, an alternative dispute resolution mechanism such as Gravity would be prompted, if it could not be solved then a decentralized disputed resolution would enter, such as Kleros or LexDAO.
This could be taken deeper, the important thing is that if evidence shows the player is trying to game the rewards, the player will not get its skill badge validation and will get reputation tokens slashed.
**-Social rights and benefits-**
Being a player entitles different rights, mainly: Decision-making, Economic-sovereignity, and Social benefits.
**-Governance-**
The City is a DAO composed of all the participating neighborhoods and city services, which are also organized into DAOs. The City and each neighrborhood DAO hold shared Circles wallets with all their residents. These verified residents are able to vote both at the Neighborhood and at the City level through different Assemblies.
Decisions are made using a dynamic set of governance tools depending on its best suitability for the situation in mind. These are suggested by the Token Engineering Commons and provided by the Commons Stack. The aim is that cities become democracy laboratories of computer aided governance.
**-Economic-sovereignity-**
Players accrue a dollar-based universal basic income and a community currency. The $UBI token is used to trade with products and services offered out of the partnership scope of the city. Whereas, the community currency is for strenghtening the local economy.
The in-game city economy is generated through City Services. City services also contribute to strenghthen the local economy by allowing to trade the community currency for the national currency for those needed cases.
**-City services-**
City services are DAOs that provide shares to their users, thus, a governance and economic right.
City services are cooperatives that start by covering the most pressing public needs currently managed by private companies through a license such as Water management, Trash management, Dog Pounds, Public transporation, etc.
Currently, citizens pay for these services in different ways, mainly through a combination of taxes and pay per use. The income model will follow the same, however, the way of organizing it will be decentralized and value-aligned through the cooperative dao model.
Later, City services will also cover other needs, gradually transitioning into a cooperative economy.
City services will offer Quests as well as full-time positions to players based on their XP, Skill trees, and Reputation. City services are the economic engine of the city.
City shares give to their holders a yearly economic distribution taken from the City services' surplus.
Another way of income is connecting the quests completed to an impact measurement vehicle such as IXO or social equity funds. More of these will be explored.
**-Social benefits-**
Besides an Universal Basic Income and a meritocratic community currency earning, being a player entitles social benefits such as health insurance, day care, scholarships, education, etc that the players collectively decide and acquire through the City Coop á la [Opolis](https://opolis.co/).
**-Skill Trees-**
All skill trees have a common trunk, known as Regenerative Being, and multiple branches known as Roles. Roles have both a defined basis but they are social constructs discovered by playing and filling them.
Roles' skill trees are filled by earning skill badges that proof expertise on a subject related to that role.
A player's role will influence on the types of quests he/she will be able to see/access on the map, as well as, the artifacts looted from completing quests. However, there is serendipity programmed in the game, so no-matter what the player's role there is always a way to discover unknown or new paths.
**-The map-**
Participating neighrborhoods will be 3D scanned and modeled as digital twins. Neighrborhoods will gather and run Design Sprints to define the desired stated they wish to reach. There, quests will be created and these will appear on the map app for everyone to discover.
The city will be mapped neighborhood by neighborhood.
Completed quests will reward both the issuer (neighborhoods) and players. This way, neighborhoods will have funds to trade for the resources needed to reach their desired state.
**-The use case-**
Chetumal is a 150,000 people city. In 2019 it was intervened by a collective called Liquid to create the City as a Cooperative known as [FARO #Chetumal](https://web.facebook.com/FaroChetumal).
FARO #Chetumal trained 23 people from the 5 helixes (Gov, Academy, Social sector, Private sector, Citizens) in several subjects such as in Sustainable Development Goals, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing, Agile Management, Biomimicry, Eudaemonia, and Cooperative economies. The graduated people constituted a cooperative. Unfortunately, the Cooperative paused its activities due to coordination obstacles. Now, the Cooperative will raise again with the help of international experts on egovernance, coordination, token engineering, community building, UBI, and others.
Chetumal will host the first local implementation of the UBI Blockchain Collective as local game for regenerating the urban commons.

Some comments from reading Misant's and Musashi's docs:
As Misanth has suggested in the doc "MetaWellness", it is important to prompt messages guiding the person to a eudaimonic and hedonic state of living. Prompt messages should contain words of wisdom, advice and/or encouragement pulled from a repository and in a frequency that depends on the player’s results and archetype.
As suggested by Musashi, quest completion needs to have a proof that happened in the real world and that it is having the impact desired. Measuring restoration impact might even produce a royalty to both the city and the players performing those regenerative quests, such as IXO is doing with measuring the CO2 sequestred from a tree.
Also, turning physical resources into digital resources is a very nice idea.

The first local implementation of MetaCity: Chetumal, Mexico.
Chetumal is a city on Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Chetumal held in 2010 a population of 151,243. It is one of the least populated capital cities of Mexico and one of the most secure.
Chetumal was chosen in 2018 by a team called GoLiquid to deploy a one year effort of building a city-wide cooperative. Within this effort [FARO Chetumal](https://web.facebook.com/FaroChetumal) was constituted. 23 people were successfully trained in the Sustainable Development Goals (turning 10 of them into Ambassadors recognized by the United Nations), Blockchain tech, AI, 3D printing, Agile Management, Cooperative governance, Biomimicry, and Eudaemonic project designing.
Due to the lack of expertise, the GoLiquid team thought the project would walk by its own. However, it did not. The team went into a journey of two years to gather skills, knowledge, and like-minded experts willing to develop regenerative city templates.
Now, it is time to return to Chetumal to develop and deploy a renovated approach to regenerative city making. Here are the thigs needed:
Already organized neighborhoods are to be invited to a program for regenerating their urban commons (public space within their neighborhood). These neighrborhoods need to sign up a minimum number of neighbors, which commit to engage in the full program.
A training program will be given to the registered neighbors.
Only the neighborhoods that successfully complete the training program will go to the next stage.
These neighborhoods will get direct assistance to create and manage their own Decentralized Autonomous Neighborhood (DAN).
Cooperative Assemblies with decentralized governance and operative structures.
The program is divided into three pillars: (1) Decentralized governance, (2) Regenerative ops, (3) Regenerative Money
The Decentralized governace will take the neighborhoods into a journey for creating and managing a DAO á la MetaGame. This includes setting up a Discord, a DAO, wallets, and MyMeta-type profiles.
Neighbors will set up their governance configuration through the couching of Commons Stack and the Token Engineering Academy.
Blockstack will perform ethnographic research both within the Discord channels and in-situ experiences.
The Regenerative ops will assist the DANs into generating, fulfilling, and validating quests for regenerating the neighborhood through a gamified approach. This pillar includes training in several areas such as:
* Reaching agreements with the municipality in a way that every activity is supported by law;
* DAOplomacy (Alternative Dispute Resolution and non-violent communication/Graviton training);
* VR and AR within OpenStreetMaps;
* Biomimicry thinking;
* Eudaemonic thinking;
* Sustainable Development Goals-based quest making;
* and others within a continous skill development path.
The Regenerative money pillar will enable the neighbors to set up and deploy their own community currency, as well as leverage the required partnerships to make it valuable for the community.
This pillar includes training in different areas such as:
* Digital Public Good funding from GitCoin;
* Setting up local nodes of different blockchains such as from IXO and Celo;
* Bringing the cyber-physical twins of ReFi Dapps;
* Swapping, bridging, and investing in Dapps such as in Uniswap and Coswap;
* and others within a continous skill development path.
--
Making all the above in the city of Chetumal will create templates and knowledge open for everyone to take, adjust, and deploy at scale.
This will be possible through partnerships that involve in-kind (services) and capital sponsorships coming from the above-mentioned orgs and other interested parties.

Please leave your comments, suggestions, questions or any other feedback that brings us closer to have regenerative city making templates :)
