First of all, it feels really great to be selected as a Permissioned Fellow for EPF! Thanks for supporting me via grant, I appreciate it.
# Week 0
So, after spending months in the Study Group, I am pumped up to put my learnings into practice. The more I learn, the dumber I feel.
I primarily want to work on Beacon Chain initiatives by the client teams. I explored various projects proposed, and have created a initial draft proposals for some interesting ones, which I want to discuss with Mario and the respective mentors for feedback.
## Draft Proposals
* [EIP 6916 - Ephemeral Testnet](https://hackmd.io/@harsh-ps-2003/BJITLPkVgg) - This project can certainly fulfill my fantasy of being a core-dev! Will have to discuss whether the respective CL and EL teams want this at the first place. Clients aren't responsible for maintaining genesis parameters between resets, so there might be a lack of native genesis generation capabilities. Ephemery implementations remain partial despite 2+ years of development. Current testing relies on wrapper scripts (external scripts) rather than native client support.
* [Grandine: zkVMs for Beacon Chain Snarkification](https://hackmd.io/@harsh-ps-2003/rJAUBVIzxx) - Again a crucial part of Ethereums Roadmap is to SNARKify the Beacon Chains STFs. Unfortunately I was unable to find out where Grandine team has tested - `Initial results using SP1 and RISC Zero show promise for networks with tens of thousands of validators` even if as a PoC. Scaling the already exisiting effort to new zkVMs like OpenVM and Zisk that offers continuation support to even work with larger validation sets is a great effort.
* [Erigon: RISCV Executable Proof Sourcing](https://hackmd.io/@harsh-ps-2003/SkhMXii-lg) - Vitalik has proposed replacing EVM with RISC-V! This feels like a pretty challenging PoC project involving deep knowledge of RISC-V ISA and ZK prooving.
I would really appreciate some feedback on my drafts.
## Whats next?
In Week 1, I want to narrow down to a single project after getting some feedback on drafts. I will define the scope of the project after potential discussions with the mentors. There is no real finish line given the vastness of the projects, but I will still try to decide an achievable end of the project. Thus, I will create a technically detailed project proposal with a Roadmap.
I will also need to prepare a presentation for ETHcc.
While my focus would be on one single project for EPF, I will love to stay involved as a fellow after November as well, and work on same (if unfinished) or another (unpicked by other fellows) project as well.
The idea is to provide as much value to the Ethereum Community as possible, while maximizing my learning as a kid lucky enough to work as a core-dev :)
### Collaborate
If any fellow is intersted in collaborating with me on these projects, feel free to reach out to me. You can find me on my [personal website](https://harsh-ps-2003.bearblog.dev). Mail works the best as I check them everyday! I am active on Discord these days as well.
### THANK YOU
