## EPF5 Dev Updates - Week 0 ### Introduction 👋 Hey there, I am Hangleang. I'm participating in the Protocol Fellowship to advance my expertise in decentralized technologies and also to contribute to open-source projects. This is my initial weekly updates. ### Weekly Updates During this week, I will try to catch up the [EPF wiki](https://epf.wiki/) since I haven't join the study group (*I wish I knew that*), and also would like to have a better understanding of the [Protocol design, architecture](https://epf.wiki/#/wiki/protocol/architecture), and [what make Ethereum unique](https://epf.wiki/#/wiki/protocol/design-rationale). ### Interests I haven't decide on which area of interests to be working on yet, since there are so many actively R&D topics, and all are important to Ethereum development in the near future (*hard to choose one over another*). So far, I have been primarily exploring those open problems and ideas. Initially, **I am most interested in the implementation of Verkle trees and the concept of statelessness, which is inspired by Vitalik's view on running a node in resource-limited environment, such as mobile phone. This will potentially lowering the barrier to entry for running a node and improving decentralization, scalability, and performance of the network.** These are the things in my mind when applying to the fellowship, but during exploring the wiki, I have found so many things else worth of looking to. --- [▶️ *next update*](https://hackmd.io/@hangleang/epf5-week1)
