## Problem
- In the past, art events (Art Basel, [Documenta](https://news.artnet.com/art-world/documenta-14-athens-deficit-cash-1098353)) have been organized as traditional centralized affairs, with a small group of curators making all the decisions about what will be shown and how it will be presented, and how funds will be spent, which dealers attend, which artists they exhibit, in which venue they exhibit, who are the sponsors, etc

- They land in cities like UFOs, are extractive and dont leave anything behind.

- They are centrally funded through Public (state/municipality) or private means (institutions) and profits pocked by the Organizer.

- They cost too much to produce and value doesnt flow very well to the participants and contributors.

- Lack of transparency and accountability from organizing entity.

- No self-regulation

- Big money meets bigger money. Not inclusive.

- Proposing a DAO framework to achieve the following goals:

- Fund and coordinate the creation of HACKUMENTA, a proof-of-concept international art event, that will manifest in Athens, August 2023. To help coordinate event organisers, sponsorship and scheduling of various side events. As a DAO, open and expansive. Co-created.
- Take over the city of Athens with a decentralized blockchain-art event, a public program of art exhibitions, hackathons, conference, events across different venues.
- To feature local art together with international artistic works from outside of the dominant "art system". A meeting point.
- Use web3 to reimagine how an art event can be funded, organized, participated in and experienced. Regenerative rather than extractive.
- Explore ways to make HACKUMENTA sustainable. Value flow loops that reward contributors directly and make the project sustainable and positive-sum without the need for a token. Focusing on creating value together is better than relying on speculation. Create open-source blockchain infrastructure and networks that will remain beyond the event.
