# Jatmi's Logbook ## Global Educational University Alliance (GEUA) 05 JUL 2021 - 06 AUG 2021 ### About Me Muhammad Izzat Najmi bin Annisa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Electronics Engineering (Computer & Information) #### First Week Basically this week is where we get to know each other. I'm glad because I not only made friend with the students from Tecnologico de Monterrey, but I also made friends with fellow student from UIA. ##### What do you enjoy? Its fun because everyone is so easy to approach, open to questions and respecting each other. Im glad to join this program and able to make friends will all of them. We also exchange our social media ID's so we able to keep in touch with each other in the future. The lecturers here are also very supportive. TERBAIK!!! ##### What did you find difficult? I somehow find the 13 Hours gap is quite difficult because it leaves us very limited time to do virtual meet. ##### What has changed? I'm a shy person who find talking to new people and approaching new people difficult. To be able to communicate openly with everyone here is one of happiness. I think love my friends here. Because this program is completely different from class session and the vibe is different. My views on Mexicans also change too. Thats how different the medias and having a real friends from the particular country really make. I really hope that this program is a face-to-face program and hopefully im able to go to Mexico to meet them and foodhunting of course XD Lots of love <3 ![](https://i.imgur.com/shLzl61.png) #### Second Week So we know each other more and gotten more comfortable with each other. During this time we were doing survey and disseminate them. My team made it in two language which is Bahasa Malaysia and Spanish. The purpose of the survey is to find out more about the difficulties faced by student in both countries. The result of the survey made us know what to focus and discuss it on how to tackle the problem regarding the apps that we are going to work with. One of our concern about the student in rural areas should get good quality of education, and the responses we retrieved was more on how the goverment should take action by providing facilities. On Friday(MY), it was the progress report day and I was absent as I have appointment for my vaccination. ![](https://i.imgur.com/u07Z5bA.jpg) The next day we are supposed to have team meeting but due to the side effect of the vaccine, i suddenly got fever and i was forced to rest. XD Im just grateful for my understanding team and although im sick, i really feel bad when i couldnt join the meeting and discussing about our project. Thats how much I enjoy working with them. #### Third Week Had a talk with Mr Hugh Considine. The talk about the remote laboratory is really inspiring and awesome. Thats something which going to help us student which unable to have face-to-face lab. The remote laboratory also going to help us getting used to the oscillator, function generator. I wonder how much more us engineer will able to ease others in pursuit of getting knowledge. ![](https://i.imgur.com/wGWhMha.png) Then we had presentation on Eid Adha. It is one of the celebration of the Muslims. This day is where people do Hajj(pilgrimage) in Mecca and do Qurban(sacrifice). ##### About Hajj More information about Hajj can be found here: https://www.ilmuk.org/news/what-is-hajj-and-why-is-it-important/ ##### Some Info about Qurban Qurban sacrifices should be shared equally, in three parts: * 1/3 for the family of the individual offering Qurban * 1/3 for that individual's friends, relatives and neighbours. * 1/3 for the poor and needy. The animals that are not to be used for qurban: * Blind, one-eyed or have lost a third (or more) of their sight * Missing a third (or more) of their ear or tail, either through loss or since birth * Those whose horn(s) have been broken off from their root * Those with one leg lame to such a degree that they are unable to use it to walk on * Excessively thin or lean creatures * Weak animals unable to walk themselves to the site of slaughter * Toothless animals, or those missing most of their teeth * Animals should be slaughtered quickly with a sharp knife, so they do not suffer. The knife is not to be sharpened in front of the animal though, and no animal should be slaughtered in the presence of another animal. Slaughtered animals are not to be skinned until completely cold. ##### What has changed? I find out that to be an engineer is challenging but rewarding. Rewarding as in satisfaction after one project is done and able to witness how it will benefit the users/people #### Fourth Week ##### Presentation on Malaysia ![](https://i.imgur.com/7REouC7.png) We presented on Malaysia. have talk on foods, vacation places the traditional and so on. We also included on why we chosen IIUM and why engineering course. ##### Progress Report ![](https://i.imgur.com/fBLVihq.png) We responded to the advices and questions by the lecturers on our project and we have been briefed on the upcoming week final presentation. ##### What do you enjoy? It's fun to work with the team, to attend the scheduled meeting. I love to hear how the lecturers responded to each of our project. Their insight is valueable as they know a lot more than us. ##### What did you find difficult? I find it difficult to insert a lot of thing in my project which is we're using PowerPoint. To underestimate the Powerpoint is a bad thing whenever theres a lot of slides and navigation-links involved. ##### What has changed? When we made the presentation on Malaysia, we the Malaysian need to study back and have some research on our country. I felt somehow grateful as we are still at peace and harmony eventhough we have a lot of ethnics and race. We also have a lot of Public Holidays, so another reasons to be grateful for. XD #### Final Week T.T ##### Presentation on Mexico ![](https://i.imgur.com/Y6VF0OQ.png) https://youtu.be/SRGEjnaPir8 > “Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller” – Ibn Battuta > “Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world” – Gustave Flaubert I love this quotes about travelling. Although I never travel out of Malaysia, I kinda develop this feeling to travel after joining the hiking club during my diploma. Whenever we reached on the top of the mountain and enjoy the feeling of accomplishment (and the view as well), somewhere inside me feels like 'how does it feel when I'm at the top of a mountain in another country? What kind of view will i witness then?'. During music class in primary school we listened to Santana - Corazon Espinado because my teacher made a cover on that song. That what I know on Mexico, not to forget about Javier 'Chicarito' Hernandez who was ManUtd player. After the presentation on Mexico and Ecuador by my fellow friends, it made me eager to travel there. Hope that one day I'll be able to meet my fellow friends and lecturers at America continent. InsyaAllah. ##### Final Presentation! ![](https://i.imgur.com/wtcxm4u.jpg) To be honest, I was nervous and we do join the meeting early to do the rehersal while i reciting my script. Its been 5 weeks with all the people we are comfortable with including with the lecturers. On this day, we got the VIP's and fellow friends who are joining as well. I was nervous until its my turn to talk XD. That time I only hope that I be able to express how valuable what I (or we) have learned during the entire program. Then the video of us was played which make me quite emotional. Im lucky because the video lagged a bit, if not maybe i will shed a tear XD. ##### What do you enjoy? We managed to complete the program and have good feedbacks from both of the universities engineering authorities ##### What did you find difficult? I find it difficult to calm down if going to talk whenever it involve higher-ups or someone new. ##### What has changed? I feel very comfortable with everyone. So comfortable that it kinda sad when this program already finished.
