# Session 25 (2022-11-26)

## Current status
We ended [the last session](/e-UhKZElSrK4onWzWh9k0A) outside the giant's cave, taking a short rest.
We are still on the way towards the [Arbor Witch](/tvvZFxX4Tp-NipoQNpdP-w#The-Arbor-Witch), but we are about a day's travel North of the main road.
Approximately 5 hours of the day remains.


## Headed back towards the road
Saw a girl playing a flute with a group of puppets walking behind her playing various instruments.
She was creepy as hell, so we hid from her.

Set up camp near the road and during my watch, a saucer of milk appeared behind me and soon after, several cats appeared as well. They drank the milk, but did not otherwise engage with me.

## Walking East
Next day we met up with the crow and headed East.

Saw a half dead willow tree and there was a girl dancing around it. She identified herself as a tree spirit.
The half dead tree is her sister that has been struck by a lightning. The spirit asked if we had any willow shade oil to help her sister heal faster. We did not.

We couldn't do much for her sister, but I volunteered to pee on the tree, which the girl agreed to.
It didn't seem to do the tree any good or bad.

## Approaching the Smith
Had a friendly chat with the smith. He warned us that the Arbor Witch is very tricky.
[Aelen](/8uCZ8WhjQeyghi-_mxgOFg) bought a new sword and I bought 5 silvered crossbow bolts.
It cost us a small diamond and a dragon's claw.
The bolts were ready after an hour, but the sword will take a few days, so we will pick it up on the way back.

## Sprites and gold
We followed the roat East and soon met 3 sprites.
I traded a pint of Elven mead for a golden necklace.

They carried something heavy and metallic in a bag with them and continued into the woods.

Aelan identified the necklace for me.

**Necklace of Adaptation**
> While wearing this necklace, you can breathe normally in any environment, and you have advantage on saving throws made against harmful gases and vapors (such as cloudkill and stinking cloud effects, inhaled poisons, and the breath weapons of some dragons).

I attuned to the necklace and am now wearing it. **I LOOK FABULOUS**.

## Towards the Swamp
We continued East on the road and it started turning more Northward. The trees on the sides of the road became smaller and sparcer, with denser vegetation in between.

The road went down hill and in the distance we saw a thick fog along the ground.
As we proceeded, the air became denser and more humid.

As we reached the edge of the swamp, we backtracked to drier ground and set up camp.

## A murder mystery
During the night, I saw a ghost disappearing into the ground and as I started digging, I discovered the corpse of what appeared to be a leprechaun.
He had a pot containing a single gold coin, with a picture of a female Sprite on one side and a tree on the other.

I woke up Aelan and together we investigated the corpse some more.

In the hand of the leprechaun, was a piece of paper with *"Alby killed me"* written on it.

In one pocket was a white rat and in in the coat was a hair pin, which Aelan identified as being magical.
> A large copper hairpin with a tiny bit of blood on the tip. When thrusted into a living being, it causes the one affected from using any spell requiring material or somatic components until removed. It’s also pretty good for holding bag hair up in a bun.

We figured we would investigate further in the morning.

## Tracking the killers
As we got up in "the morning", we decided that our main suspects were the sprites and we should hunt them down.

According to Aelan, sprites live in trees.

We spent most of the day tracking them through the forest and ended up near the edge of the river. Thanks to Aelan casting Pass without Trace on the group, we are approaching virtually silently.
