This HackMD Document consolidates reviews and workings of different extensions which do the things on the same line as Focused Browsing.
## Competitor one : News Feed Eradicator
**What it does :**
Newfeed Eradicator removes / blocks distracting elements from the websites where you tend to waste most of your time on(facebook, reddit, youtube, instagram)
**What reviews say:**
1. There's a request for more quotes to be on the screen
2. Need for Instagram/Reddit/Twitter/Youtube/Facebook/LinkedIN Support
3. Need for blocking specific tabs or functions of a website
## Competitor two : Inbox When Ready for Gmail
**What it does :**
- Hides your gmail inbox by default so that you can archive and compose new messages without getting distracted
- Decide how many times you want to check your inboc and how much total you want to spend on it and later get a visual feedback on how youre doing versus your plan
- Scheduled inbox lockout : Locks out gmail inbox and batch processes them all together after the lockdown timer is lifted
**What reviews say :**
1. Being able to set the number of times the user visits gmail(the website) is a great feature
2. Batch process incoming emails : Email-Scheduling
## Competitor three : Strict Workflow
**What it does :**
PreBlocks popular websites and allows use to enforce a 25min/5min workflow : 25minutes of distraction free work followed by 5 minutes of break. Repeat if necessary.
- Click to start a 25 minute work timer and work without distraction
- Click to start a 5 minute work break to kick back and relax for that time
- Repeat until all of your work is done
**What reviews say :**
1. Ability to quick add sites : Just like a bookmark function
2. Auto start break timer whenyou've already set 25min work timer
3. Being able to skip break periods and get straight into work mode (25mins timer) again
4. Be able to jump between break time and work time catering to different work conditions
5. Auto start work timer so that user is more accountable of his behavior and not extend break periods on their own(removing/editing break timer)
6. Set work cycles and break cycles(e.g: 5 work cycles with 4 break cycles)
7. A pause button for the timer but the websites stay blocked
8. Being able to add sites to block list while timer is running but cant remove from the list while timer is running
9. Sounds?! Maybe.

## Competitor four : WasteNoTime
**What it does :**
Blocks websites with as little access permission as possible. They differ from StayFocused based on this factor only.
**What reviews say :**
1. Per site block settings
2. Instant lockdown
3. Allows you to check how much time you've spent on a particular link(website)
4. Time Tracker / Dashboard
5. Able to mark days as "Day Off"
6. Whitelist sublinks on a certain website (e.g : specific Youtube channels)
7. ScreenTime feature just like apple (suggestion)
8. Individual Block timers(perma block until turned off or timed block)
9. Multiple machine support (solution : some kind of user auth to keep the per user extension usage data)
## Competitor five : Insta feed eradicator
**What it does :**
Turns off Posts feed, suggested profiles and stories and each of them can work independently of each other.
**What reviews say :**
1. Able to hide different elements like : hide comments
## Competitor six : StayFocusd
**What it does :**
Limits the amount of time you spend on time-wasting websites.
**What reviews say :**
1. Timed blocks
2. Way too complicated
3. Custom time for specific websites
4. Lack of setting to filter inappropriate(nsfw) content
5. Not able to set different block timers for different days
6. Can bypass using incognito mode
7. Adding a monochrome layer of color making it un-interesting
8. Users get redirected to "Shouldnt you be working" page when they try to procrastinate
9. User doesnt want their website to be blocked during their break time
10. Showed the need of some kind of profile settings for different timer settings (just like audio profiles with diff band settings : pop, live, hardsyle, etc)
11. User shows the need of a pause timer setting
12. User shows the concern of the inability to not finish the current work theyre doing before the block timer runs out
13. User shows the need of per session block not per day block
## Competitor seven : Kill News Feed
**What it does :**
Removes the faceBook news feed and displays a message to not be distracted by the platform but rather focus on work. As simple as that.
**What reviews say :**
1. No on/off button
