# Letter to Dr. Malpani ###### tags: `Letters` Dear Dr. Malpani, My name is Arsala, and I had connected with Rahul about your offer for a 1 lakh rupee grant for open-source social impact projects focused around ed-tech. Thank you for taking this initiative, and I hope that this email makes a compelling case for why Grey Software would make for a worthy recipient. Here are some ways in which we make an impact in the education space. 1. We create, maintain, inherit, or collaborate on open-source ed-tech applications. Current examples of this are Material Math and Physics Hub, both prototypes or MVPs undergoing a redesign. https://physicshub.herokuapp.com/ https://material-math.grey.software/ After speaking to Rahul about Cato's ed-tech experiments, I found an excellent avenue for a technical partnership. Many of Cato's experimental ideas need diligent software creators and industry best practices. I am incredibly passionate about helping in that area. 2. We maintain an ecosystem of open-source education websites to help our team and the general public have ready access to learning materials and resources. The more people we help learn OSS, the higher the likelihood that they will go on to further improve the open-source world by writing valuable apps and utilities. https://learn.grey.software/ https://onboarding.grey.software/ https://glossary.grey.software/ ...and more 3. We run open-source apprenticeship programs with universities where students get course credit for building their open-source profile with structure and guidance. The students allow us to have a contracted workforce to help build our applications and learning ecosystem, and we get to develop the global open source talent pool. Many of the students I've worked with are fascinated by the open-source world and express their passion for continuing in the space. There are more areas I can elaborate upon, but I would rather that this email not get too long. At the moment, your grant would help facilitate living expenses and hardware for Raj Paul, a team member from Bangalore who is currently managing branding and UI/UX development for multiple projects. His work on managing our design system and redesigning our ed-tech applications will help those applications become the high-quality experiences we're aiming for. P.S. It is soon going to be a year since I had started working on Grey Software, and I finally have a clear plan for the near future on the following page: https://gitlab.com/groups/grey-software/-/epics?sort=created_asc (Epics are Gitlab's way of managing high-level objectives within an organization) If you know other Angel investors that you could connect me with, I would greatly appreciate an introduction :)
